Kauai

Has anyone gone to Kauai before?  We are planning on going in June 2011 and wondering if anyone has a hotel/condo/timeshare they'd suggest.  Or if there is a city on the island you'd recommend to be central to activities etc.

Any tips are appreciated!!!  Thank you!!

The North shore is much quieter, but in the summer the beaches are better for swimming than in the south. Having said that, we're going next August to Poipu (the south shore) and staying here:

Hello we went to Kauai and stayed at the Koa Kea on Poipu Beach. We loved it!!!

We're staying at a romantic cottage on Kauai's North side Aug 2011!!  I've heard that the north part of the island is the best place to go during the summer.  It still seems like all of the activities we want to do are well within close proximity.  A mountain river tubing excursion we want to do is almost on the south part of the island and mapquest says its only a 32 min drive
