So, at first I disagreed with everyone who had told me the day would go by fast. My mom and I took my bridesmaids and few other female family friends to brunch and then went back to my house to get ready. Time seemed to go so slowly, but before too long, we were headed to the church to start pictures.
We did all our pictures before the ceremony, which was great. The first look time was really sweet - I can't wait to see the photos.
Then the ceremony started and time flew by! We decided to greet everyone at tables during dinner rather than lining 200 people up to go through a receiving line. It took a lot more time to get around to all the tables than we expected, but we managed and then started the dancing.
Everything turned out beautifully! It was perfect. The only hiccup we had was that for the groom's "cake", we were supposed to have peach pie. Thursday before the wedding, my mom, mother-in-law, one of H's neices, and I made 10 peach pies. We brought them to the reception site Friday afternoon, set them up, and covered them with foil. One of our family friends that was the first one to the reception after the ceremony discovered that ants were all over the table and in the pies. He ran to Sams and bought other pies while another friend cleaned up the table, put a new table cloth on, redecorated (but we placed the new pies on a different table just to be safe). Kinda stunk that all that hard work making pies went to waste, but I was more worried that my mom would be upset than let it bother me.
My favorite part of the day - other than marrying my best friend, of course - was how all the little girls would run up and hug me while I was on the dance floor and tell me something - like they liked my dress, or they hoped to catch my flowers, or that they just wanted to dance with me. It was really sweet.
