Great AI resorts- need help

I am currently trying to find a place to have a destination wedding and the honeymoon all in one. I was wondering if anyone had any luck with any of the RIU hotels. They seem to have a bunch and good priced. I would like to stay below $,2000 for a week. Is that reasonable? I figure time I do flights, that will be $1,000. Also, is there any hidden fees I should be aware of at these places?

i am not sure if it will fit in your price range or not, but when i spoke to my TA about riu resorts she said it was so bad that she would not allow me to visit there for my honeymoon.  i am sure other people probably had good experiences there, just passing along what my TA told me.  good luck!

RIU in Aruba is premier but much more than 2k.  I think you will have to look at PuntaCana- and if you do I recommend the Paradisius, which is prob. more than 2k.  In Bermuda I recommend The Reefs- its gorgeous!  You may find that price in the Bahamas at Nassau Beach Hotel....good luck!

Oh, extra fees are the optional excursions off the resort and some resorts like the Bavaro Grand in Dom. Rep. charge for certain types of meals like steaks at some of their restaurants.  At the Paradisius though, I never needed money!

We got hitched at El Dorado Royale and it was so fantastic. The food was great the service and the whole experience was perfect. If you do go a must is the casita!!!
