July honeymoon locations...

I would like to be on a beach most of the vacation but wouldn't mind going snorkeling and doing some adventurous stuff. Most importantly I would like to go somewhere when the weather is nice and hurricane free. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • There's no gurantees for hurricanes anywhere, but SIL HMed in P!nta Cana, DR at Iberostar Grand Bavaro in July and loved it.

  • Did she have HM insurance?

  • We rarely have hurricanes here in New England (except last year, Irene hit the week before my wedding).

Maine has some great beaches, as does Massachusetts. Not so much in New Hampshire, our shore is too small!

  • We're going to Costa Rica.  Although the summer is typically their wet season, July is usually much drier.  It has both sand and adventure without as much of a risk for hurricanes because they are further south.  Plus we are staying on the Pacific side

Yes.  For any big trip to a tropical place, I'd suggest getting insurance that covers weather.  For our HM we went to Riveria Maya in Oct and had beautiful 90-degree sunny weather, but we did have insurance just incase, it was was something ilke $150 and worth the piece of mind.
  • budget? for how long? any other likes? dislikes?

  • Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao are all Caribbean islands that are outside the hurricane zone. However, I would recommend picking a place that you are most interested in and then purchasing travel insurance.

  • Budget is 3K maybe more  7 days 6 nights is probably plenty of time for us we would love something AI if possible once we narrow it down we will have a TA do all of the dirty work for us FI isn't really picky at all we just want something romantic and to be very close to a beach. Costa Rica sounds very interesting a rainforest would be fun to hike through.

  • We HMed in San Diego.  Beautiful beaches, lots to do, and it was very warm and not smotheringly hot like where we're from.
  • I was just going to suggest southern California. Great beaches, no hurricanes, or really any rain either. I loved Coronado Bay near San Diego. But there is Malibu, LA.
  • We are going to Cancun, Mexico for our July honeymoon.  We purchased trip insurance just in case.
