Antigua - Sandals vs. Galley Bay

My FI and I have been looking into going to Antigua for our HM.  We were reading reviews on TripAdvisor last night and there seemed to be as many negative as positive ones about Sandals.  Sandals fits more in our budget around $4,000 for a week, while Galley Bay comes in around $6,000, both with airfare.  I don't think I saw a single bad review about Galley Bay, all were raving how great it is.

I'm looking for people who have stayed at either for guidance as to which one to choose.  Sandals was our first choice until I saw all of the bad reviews.

I can't offer any experience guidance other than we have booked Galley Bay for October 2011, and we can't can't wait for it to come!  The Trip Advisor reviews absolutely sold us...there are a few new ones posted to take a peek at...again, nothing but stellar reviews.

We have booked a cottage for 9 nights - we love the idea of the plunge pool and extra privacy.  They are highly recommended for honeymooners.    We love the idea of rest and relaxation above everythign else - we weren't looking for a dance club atmosphere, loud pool games or late nigth entertainment - this could very well be the only time ever that we can take a vacation that focuses only on the two of us, so we're doing it all the way.

We have stayed at Sandals.  We had a good time, and the resort was nice, but honestly, we wouldn't go back.  If the cost difference isn't a dealbreaker for you, I would choose Galley Bay.

We are going to stay In Sandals despite the reviews. Galley Bay is out of our price range and we are not the quiet stay only to ourselves type of people. Im sure you will have fun wherever you stay!!

Thanks everyone!!! While I would love to stay at Galley Bay a $2,000 difference is a lot considering we're paying for our wedding as well. . . so I think it may be Sandals for us, I'm sure we'll have a great time wherever we go!
