RIU ALL INCLUSIVE RESORTS?

I SEE THE RIU ALL INCLUSIVE RESORTS LISTED ON SOME OF THE SITES IM LOOKING AT BUT, IT DOES SEEM LIKE THEY ARE A LOT CHEAPER THAN MOST OF THE AI'S THAT I HAVE SEEN, DOES THE PRICE MATCH THE QUALITY OF THE RESORT WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT IT?

Re: RIU ALL INCLUSIVE RESORTS?

  • I've never personally stayed at one, but I know someone that went to the one in Aruba and someone that went to the one in Costa Rica and neither of them were impressed.  Especially with the one in Aruba.
  • I went to the one in Cancun for a company trip, and I loved it. It wasn't the most luxurious experience, though, so it may not be great for a honeymoon.
Basically I went to party and drink for 5 days, and my standards were pretty low. :)
  • We went to the RIU Palace Riviera Maya and it was amazing. The 'Palace' line is the more expensive of their resorts and is a little higher quality. We had an absolutely great time. The Riviera Maya one is in Playa Del Carmen about a 5 minute walk down the beach to downtown/5th Avenue in Playa Del Carmen. The resort itself was gorgeous. The food was delicious and the service was impecible. I felt like I was being served hand and foot. I have never been to an all inclusive before but I felt like there was not much more they could do to make it any more 5* if that makes sense. I don't hear a lot of people on here taling about RIU resorts but we loved it and if we go to another AI then we will be returning back to another RIU.

    Have fun and goodluck!

  • A while ago I went to the bahamas an we booked the Riu (this was through expedia) Us along with a few other couples that were checking in at the time were told that they over booked and we would not be staying there. Luckily, it ended up for the better and we got put up at the Atlantis in their condo suites and we were able to ultilize both the Riu and Atlantis resorts. Although we did not get to stay in the room, we were pretty much there every day because that is where we had our all inclusive package. The food was pretty good, and they have entertainment at night. I do not think I would go back again just because of the experience that I personally had with RIU.

  • I went to the Riu Cancun quite a few years ago and another Riu in the Playacar complex (not the Palace, but the one actually on the beach-can't remember the name off the top of my head right now) a year or so after.  I enjoyed both of them.  Neither trip was a romantic trip though, I went with friends/siblings.  The food, service and drinks were good.  None of the food was amazing though.  Even at the specialty restaurants I didn't walk away talking about how amazing the food was. We had no problems with service.

They do allow children, which I tend to try to stay away from if I'm looking for a romantic trip.  But I certainly would go there again for more of a fun trip.
  • THANK YOU GUYS THATS EXACLTY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR, I THINK WE HAVE DECIDED TO GO TO SOMETHING ADULTS ONLY, SO HERE WE GO AGIAN ON A SEARCHING FRINZE! URGH LOL DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ISLANDS OR ALL INCLUSIVES THEY WOULD RECOMMEND FOR ADULTS ONLY BESIDES SANDLAS AND SECRETS? OR ANY COMPANYS TO START LOOKING AT?
  • I've been to two RIU hotels, the first was Riu Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and we loved the resort. The food was great, as was the service and of course the drinks! We went to the RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas for a destination wedding and were blown away by it! Stunning property, luxury included! For a honeymoon, I would def recommend the Palace hotels, since they are pricier they include more and have more adults- more romantic. It's a great chain!!
