Domestic Friends Trip

I have a group of around 10 friends that is trying to do a domestic trip, and we can't figure where we want to go. We want to go for 4-5 days, and spend no more than 1000/person. It's a mixed group of couples and singles, and we like to drink but we don't need to PARTY.

We are considering going somewhere with really great restaurants, and renting a house to stay in. This would happen sometime in May.

My preference is an island in the Carolinas, or off of Georgia. Any other suggestions?? We're open to pretty much anything!

I think New Orleans would be right up your alley. Although it isn't an island it is close to the water. Not sure if that is too close or if you had been there. Tons of history, the restaurants are amazing and if you want to go out and party it is right there.

Other then that you might want to go down to Savannah Georgia. I have never been there but I hear it is gorgeous and very small town feel. I don't know of any specific islands off of Florida or Georgia though.

I love the Outer Banks! Lot of house for the money. You can cook meals at home to save. But May is probably not a crazy time down there so you shouldn't hit too much traffic if you prefer to eat out most meals (although I've only ever been in July and August).

Charleston, SC is pretty awesome. I did a trip with some friends labor day weekend a couple of years ago and there was something for everyone. Another option could be Key west?

I've done South Beach in Miami and Charleston, SC for friends weekends - - both were a lot of fun!

I was going to recommend Charleston SC. They have tons of great restaurants, there are areas of history in the downtown area, plus beaches.

I think this is my vote as well! I think New Orleans is out, since about half of us took a trip there 2 years ago, and I'll be going down there shortly to see some of H's family that couldn't make it to the wedding.
