Honeymoon on a budget?

I seen where everyone is paying 3000 + on their honeymoons. I would love to do this, but we are both still in school and in the process of looking for houses to buy. We don't have much of a budget for our honeymoon if we want a house. Does anyone have any recommendations? We can get cheap hotel rooms every where (even Mexico) due to me working at a hotel, but its the airflight. We are only looking at spending 1500.00

Thanks girls!!!

Re: Honeymoon on a budget?

  • Stay more local...my fiance and I are both students still and hoping to buy a house (granted..we are spending around 2,500) but we are going to Florida and renting a house down there. The Poconos in Pennsylvania is supposed to be perfect for a honeymoon location. There are plenty of place in the US to go and that would make your flight MUCH cheaper. HTH!

We went to Vegas for that amt. (not a HM, just a vacation). We flew from NJ & stayed at the Mandalay Bay. It was nice since you didn't HAVE to rent a car since there was a tram everywhere or a taxi. We went 4 nights & 5 days for approx. $1,500 which included everything including time at the spa & a nice dinner at Wolf Gang Puck's restaurant in MGM.

  • Checkout air prices to closer places like Florida, New Orleans, Mexico, Boston (Cape Cod), etc.  Pick a place that you can get to for less than $350 each and you should be able to do the rest with your hotel deal.  Browse lots of sites like Hotwire and Travelocity to see what the best deals are.

Cruises can be very affordable if you get an inside cabin (no windows).  Food is inclluded, but soda and booze are not.  That might be an option for you.

  • There are a lot of resorts in Mexico that are pretty cheap. I did a quick expedia search on hotels with airfare to the Riviera Maya and there were tons of hotels in your price range. Granted, they are not all-inclusive and are about 3 stars, but they are still good deals. Vegas is also really cheap right now because of its hurting economy. It might be worth looking into. You can stay at some really ritzy places cheap, and flights there are almost always reasonable.

  • This might not be an option for you guys  but my fiance and I are planning on postponing our honeymoon for about a year. I am a student who will be in the middle of a teaching credential program and we are also saving for a house. I think directly after the wedding we might do a short trip to tahoe or down south (we live in california) but we plan on waiting almost a full year to go to hawaii or the bahamas for our REAL honeymoon.
