Opinion on first dance song....

I know I am really late in the ballgame on this, but fiance and I had major issues trying to decide on a first dance song. 

I think we have finally decided on one we both like: Norah Jones, "Come Away With Me."

Opinions? good, bad, cheesy, etc.?

We are having four dance lessons this month and our instructor recommended a waltz, and this is one of the best songs we could find that is in 3/4 time so would work for a waltz....we don't want the dance to be over choreographed but want to move around the dance floor instead of just awkwardly swaying.

Oh here are the lyrics - I never realized how pretty they were until we looked them up this morning:

i think thats a really good song!! And it will work great as a waltz!

I thought about this song for our first dance!  I also think it is really pretty and if you are having dance lessons so you can move about the dance floor I think it will be perfect!

I think it's really pretty! I was obsessed with that song when it first came out. 

I love that you're doing a waltz! My FI was willing but he has such bad rhythm and I don't think any amount of lessons could help, haha.

thanks for the feedback, guys!! I think it's really pretty too, plus my fiance has always had this bizarre crush on Norah Jones, which makes it humorously even more appropriate

Meagan, I will let you know after our first lesson this weekend if the waltz is going to work out.....I took dance lessons for years and have played the piano since I was 2, but I am also worried about my fiance's lack of rhythm/musical talent.....our dance teacher insists that he will be fine, but I am not so sure!!

I am actually not a huge fan of her either! but as soon as we listened to this song and read the lyrics I started sobbing, so i figured that might be a good sign??

I never cared for the song, back when it got wayyy played out... hence the fact that I never paid much attention to the lyrics past the first couple lines. But I totally agree with you, it's really pretty!! I had no idea! LOL! Anyway, great pick, it'll be beautiful!!

This is actually our First Dance song
we took 3 private lessons, and learned a light choreographed version of a waltz! could not be happier! really looking forward!

nati I felt the exact same way about it too, bahahaha. Hopefully everyone will think it is pretty on our wedding day, though!

and being the pinterest nerd that I am, I really want one of those canvas things or a big frame that has one of our first dance pictures with our lyrics on it, hence the reason why we needed pretty lyrics

Love the song, but we thought it was too slow for us to dance to. Totally doable though and love her voice and words in this song! Do it and rock it!

I've been "Liking" everything for the last 20 min and I went to "Like" this and realized I was confusing my websites. hahahah :(

We haven't decided on ours yet either and this is absolutely one of the contenders.  We also took Waltz lessons a year or two ago and this was our favorite song to Waltz to.
