Puerto Vallarta Tours

Has anyone been on the Las Juntas Los Veranos canopy tour or the Dune Buggy Tour in Puerto Vallarta?  What about tours where you can swim with dolphins?

Any other fun excursions to do or things to see while there?

Thanks!! :)

Haven't done either of those.  I went a few years back to Rancho Capomo and did horseback riding, ATVs and ziplining and it was awesome!  They serve you homemade huevos rancheros for breakfast and then homemade fajitas, salsa, guac and tequila on the ranch after the trip.  We had a great time.

  • I did the dune buggy tour but unless you're pretty good with a stick shift I wouldnt bother. They took us through the city with the insane Puerto Vallarta traffic. I was scared. It was a fun tour once we got into the rural areas. Be careful downtown, we had several people try to pick pocket us, Puerto Vallarta is not a safe place.
  • Thanks for both of the advice!  The FI is excellent with stick shift, which is why he wants to do it... I'll be riding along LOL

SD3194- You're the first person to say it is not safe there... I'm quite surprised.  Many people said they felt safer there than at home in the states.  How long ago did you go?  Did you go into downtown in the evening or you just felt unsafe all the time?  I guess it is probably like that any city you go to though... just have to use your head.  Any other advice about the city?

  • I went for a week in 2005 and really liked it so I ended up doing my internship there for 2 months. After living there I quickly realized that it wasn't a place for a young lady. Alot of the locals I worked with would advise me not to wonder around by myself.  Vendors were also very aggressive trying to sell me things, I remember one guy walking into the ocean trying to sell some lady something, it was strange. I lived down there by myself so maybe that's why I was hassled a little more. When I travel I like to explore the area and learn a little about the culture but I didn't feel safe doing this in PV. You'll be fine just stick on the beaten path.
