PIP Centerpiece, tables and linens

Anybody dealing with this yet?? It already has my head spinning. Thank goodness we've still got some time.

Sunday we went to our venue to see our centerpiece mock up! I thought it was going to be a whole table mock up to get an idea of the whole picture... but apparently not. I might have to ask her for a table mock up soon because trying to imagine things get kinda difficult sometimes. So here's our centerpiece:





The color is a little off because of the flash. The bluish flowers are a deeper purple and basically everything is a little darker/ concentrated color than it looks in the pic. We asked her to take out the green things and less lilac colored flowers. There will be votive candles at the base as well. We're really excited though! We love it!

Now the trouble is table decor and linens. The tables will be square glass tables with a stand underneath like this:


Plus Chiavari chairs with seat covers. So I originally envisioned a beautiful purple to go underneath the table. But once our venue lady brought seat covers into the picture, everything went down the drain haha. FI loved the way the purple seat cover looked against the silver chair.. but didn't like the idea of purple seat and purple table cover. Me neither. So he said what about silver table cover? But the room is very plain and white and I think silver tables just won't stand out as much. Then I suggested silver chair cover with a nice colored bow on the back of the chair... he doesn't care for the idea of a silver seat on a silver chair. Good grief!! 
 
I like purple table covers for sure. I'm afraid a red seat cover would be too much... thoughts? So I like silver seat covers, and if silver on silver is so bad, then fix it with a colored bow on the back. In what color, did you ask? No idea. The trouble is how to tie in our 3 colors (purple, pink, red with silver accents) tastefully without everything looking so match-y. Reason #536 I need a wedding planner. Any recommendations? Sorry for such a long post, might have to take this over to RI boards as well, but truth is I value your opinions best! ;-)

very pretty! I kinda like the green thingies for some contrast.

edit: i like the idea of a silver chair with purple cushion. you could bring in the silver with some pretty votive holders.

I wish I could see a table mock up!  I won't see my tables all together until the day of!

I am having trouble envisioning the ideas without photos however!

A: I absolutely love your centerpieces. They look fabulous in the photo, so I cant imagine in reality.

B: How attached are you to seatcovers? You could just do a silver bow on the chairs, or even mix up the colors of the ribbons to match your theme with chair covers if you think its too much silver- you could save a little $$ that way too!

note: i meant **without chair covers. just do a ribbon/bow and no actual cover.

Those centerpieces are gorgeous!!!! And our colors are similar, yay! I would say to go with the silver chairs and the purple cushions!
 
And by the way, I'm loving that this is where we are all at right now with our planning because I've been thinking about this since day 1 and I literally just drastically changed my centerpieces idea last weekend so it's all I'm thinking about! And now we can all lean on each other!

I think you'll make the right choice, because those colors are just awesome together

What color are the original seat covers?? 

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your centerpieces!!!  They're gorgeous!!  Honestly, I would do silver table covers or purply pink to tie into the flowers and then do silver seat covers.  Can she do a mock up for you and show you what it would look like??

Thanks everyone!  I know what you mean Gina, it's tough just picturing it, which is why I think I'm going to ask for a table mock up to help make our decision.

Elizabeth, luckily for once $ isn't an issue with this. All centerpiece designs and table decor is included. Plus no seat covers aren't even an option I think, the seats at this venue are always some kind of color. She's pretty pricey so we're making sure to take full advantage of what we can get with no price difference haha :-P

I'm glad we have similar colors July! There isn't much inspiration out there..


For those of you that say yes to the purple seat covers, is that with the purple tablecover too? Or with the silver one? I only have pics of the linens and they're both very beautiful! I just think purple will stand out more in our plain white room

Thank you!! I have no idea what color they are originally.. she pulled out a chair that was already covered. White maybe? Wouldn't like white though. I think so too on the silver seats! I definitely have to ask for a mock up before deciding, maybe FI will like the silver seats more once he sees it set up. I don't know how in the world this lady thought two opposites could decide without seeing how everything would look first haha!

OMG your centerpieces look GORGEOUS, Nati! How cool that you get to see mock-ups before hand, I wish we got to do that. 

I think the silver seat cushions with purple covers would look the best but since your FI doesn't like the silver on silver idea I would probably do purple seat cushions and silver table covers. I don't think the silver is boring at all, plus I think it would really make your centerpieces pop.

How many tables do you have?  We're buying our overlays because it's more expensive to rent them from our venue than to buy on our own.  Most websites only charge ~$5/ tablecloth and then you can resell them on TK afterwards!

We haven't bought yet, but there are some threads on the DIY boards every once in a while about various sites.  We'll probably buy from linentablecloth.com or tableclothsforless.com

We get a mock up of our tables (linens and chair covers) when we go for food tasting, and we can go to the florist to see a mock up of our flowers, but we don't get to see it all together.  :-/

Yes it is an option, and also my favorite! I'm thinking FI will just have to see how it looks in person. If he still doesn't like it, we'll move on. He doesn't like most things until he sees them, like our centerpieces actually haha. He thought I was crazy, now he loves it. Smh. Men.

I agree that your centerpieces look amazing! Good for you for convincing your FI to move away from the ball of red roses, haha. We don't get any mock-ups that I'm aware of. Kind of scary, so I'm just hoping our florist and caterers know what they're doing.

I say go for the purple table line, since that is your gut. As for the chairs, is it seat cushions or seat covers you are talking about? B/C I'm confused why your FI would care that the cover was silver if the chair was too. What doesn't he like about that idea?

So what if you did half the tables with silver tableclothes and purple seat cushions and the other half with purple tableclothes and silver seat cushions? I would be concerned that all purple tableclothes might be overwhelming but I think it would depend on the shade of purple.  My second thought is what about silver tableclothes with alternating purple and silver seat cushions?  Not sure if it would be too much silver that way but I like the look of the silver table clothes with those centerpieces (well in my mind at least) I think the centerpieces will pop!

We thought about halving.. but we're 80 people meaning 9, 10 tables. We don't think it's enough to pull off that look. But the alternating color of seat covers isn't a bad idea actually..!

Bmore I guess it's more of a cover for the seat cushion. Because the chair I saw, the cushion isn't detachable so she just covers it with the color you want. If you can see the chairs in the venue pic I posted in the OP, they have black chairs with white seats. We've chosen a silver chair and now we just have to choose the color of the seat. FI doesn't like the way it looks to have silver chairs with silver seats.. a monochromatic chair I guess. But our venue lady also puts a sash or bow on the chairs so I think that will spruce up the "boring" chairs that aren't his fave.

We get to look at what color linens the venue has, but we don't get to see it all set up in that color. And I'm not far enough along in the floral process so I can't really answer that one. But yeah. Sucks.
