Passport Question

I havent yet updated my passport, if I book the trip under my maiden name (which matched my passport) should that be okay? Im a bit worried about trying this but realized I havent yet updated my passport. :-( Its not the end of the world, but wondering if anyone has experience in this department.

Thanks!

Re: Passport Question

  • as long as all of your other photo identification matches the name on your passport than you're fine.  Otherwise, you will undoubtedly run into some major problems.  My friend ran into this issue last year with her HM.  Her passport had her maiden name and her drivers license was hypenated and they said it wasn't the same so they wouldnt accept it and she wasnt permitted to board the plane.  I would take the time to correct your passport.  You can expedite the process for a fee if you need it in a hurry.  There may also be a way to print an updated page online (like how you do with your drivers license and change of address).  But you definetely dont want to mess with customs in the US or even worse, in a foreign country, especially with how strict airlines have become.

  • As long as your ticket and passport are in the same name that is all that matters.  I fly once or twice each month for work and always use my passport as my ID (even for domestic) b/c it is easier to pull it from my passport ticket wallet than to get my DL out of my purse.  You only need one form of ID so whatever name is on your DL does not matter if you choose to use your passport.  I assume the pp's friend must have booked her ticket in her married name and tried to use a passport with her maiden name which will not work.

  • Ditto monkey. Passport + booking = happy days.
  • If you have a driver's license under one name and a passport under another I might bring a copy of the wedding license JIC.  I know many of my friends traveled that way (we travel like crazy for work) when the booking didn't match an ID.

  • If they don't match, why not just use one form of ID? TSA's crazy, but not multiple-ID crazy.
  • yuo dont need your license if you use your passport as ID!!!! they as for ONE form of ID and a passport is the only one you need!!
if your passport has your maiden name and you wont have enough time to change the name on it  (allow 6 weeks MINIMUM) then you must book in maiden name.
marriage license has nothing to do iwth it. if your air tickets match your passport then there's no reason to bring your drivers license or marraige cert.

exactly!  Everyone does realize that you really(legally)
are not Mrs. so and so until the name is legally change trough the soc office/government.

As stated before PASSPORT+TICKET BOTH IN THE SAME NAME=getting on the plane with no problem.
No divers license no marriage license required.
  • I would def do it under maiden name because:
    1. You will not have your marriage license and drivers license just yet. You have to make sure any pic ID matches.
    2. I saw that on travel channel one time and a lady booked it under her new name and was not able to board.
  • Thank you Ladies so very much! Great advice!
