Aruba ladies please help

The FI and I are considering going to Aruba.  We are thinking of going for our honeymoon on 8/8/11.  We want to layout and pig out.  We are foodies!

We here how wonderful it is. However we have heard the same cons on tripadvisor: the pools are all small and you cant find seats at the pools or beach.  I am afraid that we will be on vacation and obligated to get up super early to find seats.

Please provide us with your input!

TIA

  • What resort are you thinking, though?
It's time. Adoption saving and process started in November 2012.

  • we are considering the Hyatt or Marriott.  We have not dismissed the though of all-inclusive.  It depends on how the prices work out.

  • We stayed at the Marriott and loved it!!!  We did their new all-inclusive program which was great.  We never had a problem getting a seat at the pool or beach, but if you want something in the shade, you do have to get up a bit earlier.  But if you're cool with the sun, you can sleep in.  PM me if you want more info.

  • We are leaving for aruba on 8/8/11!  We are staying at La Cabana in Eagle beach--farther away from the "high rise" area.  I can't wait!
  • I stayed at the Marriott and loved it and my friend stayed at the Westin and also loved it. Aruba to me has too many good restaurants to do an AI at a resort. I don't remember any problems with getting a hut on the beach or a chair by the pool.

  • I'm jumping over from thebump boards because I love reading about honeymoons. :)

I've been to Aruba 9 times... got engaged there and honeymooned there as well.  If you are foodies, then Aruba is perfect for you!  The restaurants are amazing!  While all-inclusive is great for the convenience, you're going to want to go out and enjoy what Aruba has to offer.

I haven't ever had a problem with finding a palapa on the beach for shade, but then again, I've never stayed on Palm Beach where I hear that is indeed a problem.  If all you want to do is lounge, then you might want to look at some of the timeshare resorts on Eagle beach where it is much quieter and the beach is larger.  You will still be close enough to restaurants and nightlife to go by taxi or renting a car (I recommend... it's cheap!), but far enough away to relax.

Check out redweek.com to browse some timeshare rentals.  My hubby and I rented a timeshare at the Aruba Beach Club for one week of our honeymoon and only paid $600 total!  (The other 9 days we stayed at the Divi Aruba all-inclusive)  The Costa Linda is another very nice timeshare hotel with a gorgeous pool and wide beach.  (I will actually be there with DH and our new baby in August 2011)

If you have any Aruba questions, I'd be happy to help!  Either PM me or email me at erinlenik@gmail.com
