Pizza RD recs?

Can anyone recommend any pizza restaurants to have our rehearsal dinner at?  We are getting married at Woodwinds so anywhere from Branford-Clinton would work.  We don't want to go towards New Haven because it's the opposite direction of everyone.  We could have our rehearsal at Cafe Allegre in Madison for $25/pp but at 45-50 people that's a little expensive so we are looking into other options and you can't go wrong with a casual pizza RD.

  • Pizza works! I'm not sure if it's past clinton, but yummmm...one of my favorites!

  • I love the pizza idea for the RD!

There's the Red Tomato in Madison (close to the Guilford line) and it's large enough inside to accommodate groups.

    Grand Apizza in Clinton

Pasta Avest and Pizzeria in Guilford

and Nick & Tony's in Guilford (I haven't been there in a while)

Also, for a larger restaurant that serves pizza: Anthony's of Guilford is good!

    Good luck!

  • I am not sure how many people you have coming but in Branford, Pepe and Rose is amazing (on Branford Hill near Honda)! They have a smaller sized dining room (maybe 30 people) so I am not sure if that would work for you but the food is fantastic!
Ditto with Anthony's of Guilford the food is fabulous and they definitely have more room in their dining room.

  • Not sure if you'd be willing to go to Old Saybrook, but I figure it's close enough to the Clinton area....we are having ours at Luigi's in Old Saybrook - my future in-laws booked it, but I have never eaten there, so I am trusting their judgment. I imagine it is pretty good, since they have good taste in pizza :) We are renting out the second floor of Luigi's (it's in a big house) - I've seen pictures of the second floor room that we are using, it's nothing fancy or spectacular, in fact its very casual... but we are going for a very casual rehearsal dinner...pizza and beer! We're saving the fancy stuff for the actual wedding, and the post-wedding brunch. Maybe you want to check it out? It's on main street in Old Saybrook

  • Red Tomato (Madison) and Pasta Avest (guilford) are definitely not big enough for 45-50 people.  Anthony's in Guilford just expanded their restaurant and have a banquet room for a minimum of 40 people.  I grew up in Guilford and it was always good.
  • My family has had a few get togethers at Pepe & Rose and we have 30+ people.  I think that is the only pizza place in Branford that would be able to accomodate that many..
