Deciding between 2 reception places - New Haven Lawn Club OR Pine Orchard Yacht Club

Ok, I've narrowed it down to two places - New Haven Lawn Club (old world luxury) and Pine Orchard Yacht Club (member only, "beachy" and not as formal). I haven't eaten the food at either one - any comments or suggestions would be so much appreciated!

My venue is the lawn club so I could be bias.. What is your date, I'm actually going to a wedding at the pine orchard yacht club next saturday also.  It seems to be like a more summer place so if your wedding is in the spring or summer that would probably be a great location. If your wedding is going to be fall or winter then the lawn club is really nice especially because of the fireplaces. That being said if you did go wtih the lawn club for spring or summer you could make a use of that terrace that they have.

I went and looked at the new haven lawn club and  loved it however. The charm of the venue reminded me of something you would find in the south it is so beautiful however i didnt care for the cocktail hour area and the ballrooom reminded me of a gymnasium it needs so much to feel intimate. I also did not feel that the coordinator was all that knowledgable and that was veryn important to me. You do not want to worry about anything the day of your wedding trust me!!

I worked at the LC for six years through college and right after and I must say they put on a wonderful wedding. I know the head chef personally and he is a great guy and wonderful cook. I don't think I ever had to take a meal back to the kitchen because a guest was not happy with it. I know Marksgirl is getting married there, in Sept I think. You might want to page her on this board.

I'm getting married at the Lawn Club next month.  I love it there and Christine and Darin are fabulous to work with!  We had our tasting there in February and the food was amazing!  HTH!

Hey! How did you enjoy your appointment on Saturday?  We absolutely LOVED it! I was really impressed with how organized everything is and Christine seems awesome to work with. Even my fiance started to open up and ask questions which NEVER happens! I'm not concerned with the food quality because we'll get to attend a tasting once we sign on and everyone I've talked to promises that it's nothing even close to typical banquet food. I thought the temperature throughout the building was good considering it was such a hot day. The bathrooms are a little outdated but we saw two ladies cleaning them when we were there (maybe about an hour or so before guests were arriving). I disagree with the comment left about the coordinator not being knowledgeable. Christine answered every single one of my questions and had amazing ideas when I asked her for suggestions. During our appointment, a couple stopped by unexpectedly and since Christine was already with us, another employee walked them around and didn't seem to quite know her stuff....maybe your appointment was with that employee?

My cousin got married at the LC in 2007. It was one of the best weddings i've ever been to. They worked closely with her and her FI to make their wedding perfect (it was originally in hawaii, then got moved to new haven in november!). They were really flexible with the budget, too.

I just had my wedding at the lawn club in June and I loved it there!  Christine & Melissa (Darin is not there anymore) are fantastic duo to work with, They definately have there act together.  I must of called them every day for the last 2 1/2 weeks before the wedding about the littlest things, they were so patient and willing to do anything to make my day special.  The food was fantastic too.  All my family and in-laws kept complimenting how attentive the entire staff was to them and the other guests.  I found this place to be a hidden gem...a place that not to many people knew about and absolutely beatutiful as well as the old New Haven Charm!  If you have specific questions  or want to see pictures feel free to email me at terryg0317@yahoo.comTerry
