Buenos Aires?

We are now considering Buenos Aires for our honeymoon. I think we need to book soon because flights are only going up from here on out. Has anyone been there, or does anyone know anything about it? I obviously need to do some research but you all are the fastest and best resource :-) TIA!

Re: Buenos Aires?

  • I have not been but my sister has been and another friend. They both loved it. There is so much culture and it isn't very touristy and over the top like other places.

Hopefully someone else on here can help but I really love seeing the Trip Advisor boards for places I am visiting. It allows me to ask questions and browse through issues and questions other people are having about the specific destination. Here is the forum for Buenos Aires: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g312741-i979-Buenos_Aires_Capital_Federal_District.html

    Have fun!

  • I spent a little over a week in Buenos Aires last August and loved it!  We booked a package through American Airlines Vacations, and got a killer deal that ended up being less than 1500 per person including round trip direct airfare from NYC and a great boutique hotel which included breakfast at Hotel Carlos.  The staff was super friendly and made great recommendations on where to eat, took care of dinner reservations, got us a fixed price cab fare to airport, found us a wine opener for our room....  The subway system there is supposed to be really easy to use--unfortunately they were striking the entire time we were in town, so we took cabs everywhere.  I'd recommend staying at least a few nights in Palermo Soho, which is the "hot" neighborhood in town and walking distance to all the good restaurants and clubs.  I ate some gigantic steaks and drank a ridiculous amount of Malbec.

I'd also recommend doing a day trip (or overnight) to Montevideo (Uruguay).  We didn't but I wish we had.  The museums in BA are amazing, the food is amazing, the wine is amazing, the desserts are amazing...it was really great.

What time of year are you trying to go?

What time of year...I probably should have mentioned that in my first post.we're going in July, which I eventually realized is going to be winter there. Not ideal for beach honeymoon lol. Thank you for your advice anyway!
