Fox Hill Inn, J Castro, DJ, Hotel Help

All,You guys have been so incredibly helpful during this whole process!!  Ok, so hoping for some more thoughts...Fox Hill Inn:We are booked for 6/26/10.  I went back yesterday and had a strange feeling that I no longer liked it as much as before.  They painted the main foyer beige (instead of the striking red) and I felt like it just looked tired and run down.  Was I just letting the rainy, cold day affect me?  Please assure me that this place is still a good place!!  :)J Castro Photography:Anyone work with them before?  We met the owner Jayme yesterday and just seems like the nicest / most down to earth guy and really like his work.  DJ:Any good ones near the Brookfield area?  I want to stay away from inflatable guitars / props but want everyone to have a really good time (we are all big fans of dancing!)Hotel:Held a block at Courtyard Marriott in Danbury but is there a better option?  My ideal would be to be somewhere where there was a fun, cool bar we could meet everyone that wasn't invited to rehearsal dinner.  And being from NYC I'm trying to avoid everyone having to drive around! Thanks in advance!Kate

I was at a wedding at the FHI this past sept.. && it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! I loved the red walls but... I think the beige ones look great too especially if you want colored flowers on the main foyer table - any color will look good! I love the setup- I think it's very elegant! && While their coordinator can be reallyyy flighty and they lack the quick response to phone/email questions - the day of they pull it all together perfectly. you might want to page Kendra or Stephy for some more imput re: FHI - they both got married there.

I booked at the Fox Hill for 2011.  I never saw it in person with the red foyer, but I saw it in pictures.  I was pleasantly surprised to see the beige, because I actually like it much better.  I think that it is kind of old-looking, but it's very homey and old mansion-like.  I don't think it looks tired.  What I like most about it is that it's super close to Danbury, so great for hotels for my family and friends, but it's really secluded and private and there's only one wedding at a time.  Does that help?  :)

I don;t know much about the other stuff but wasn't that the hotel someone was on here with a huge complaint recently. If someone could back me up on that I don't want to miscredit them. Wasn't the police called or something.

We almost booked the FHI.  We actually went there with a check and then changed our minds because I felt exactly the same way you do now.  The first time I saw it I thought it was striking and lovely, but then when we went back I thought it looked a bit . . . well, tired like you said.  The biggest thing, though, was that it just didn't have the summery, airy look I wanted for our July wedding.  So, we ended up booking the Candlewood Inn (also in Brookfield) instead.  I think it just all depends on the look and feel you want for your wedding! Good luck!

We used the Courtyard Marriott in Danbury and were very happy with it. The rooms are nice and there's a big lobby area where a lot of our OOT guests visited with each other. There's also some sort of trail/waterway behind it that people can walk to. There's not much in terms of bars in walking distance but I didn't find that at any of the places in Danbury.

I think you may have been letting the day get to you. Try going back on a beautiful day and see if you feel the same way. It's like buyers remorse, you make a big decision like where your getting married and you think about it more and more until you start questioning your decision. I've never heard of J Castro but if you like him and his work and theres a connection then that sounds like a check off the list! DJs- I'm recommending my DJ Powerstation Events because they have been sooooo wonderful to me. Obviously i'm not married yet so i can't give a review but i just recently saw them at another wedding and they are great. And no cheesy-ness or blow up stuff or anything... just the DJ. I dont know much about hotels in that area i'm sorry. :(

Once again you guys have saved the day.  Think I really was having an "off" day and just needed to be reassured that I hadn't made a horrible decision.  Thanks for all the feedback!
