Name your price!--Priceline ??

Has anyone done the Name your price on Priceline's website?? I know that you fly out whenever they tell you to fly...but are you on standby?  We just bid a $1 and it was accepted?...

HELP! hahaha

Re: Name your price!--Priceline ??

  • I've only done hotels and I used betterbidding.com to learn some tricks and tips. I don't think betterbidding talks about airfare much though. I think if you're flexible with your time it's worth the risk.

Wait a second. You bid $1 and it was accepted????!?!!?!?!?!

  • Please let us know if you actually get a flight for $1! lol (I'm guessing it's a first bid and it will go up?)

I want the update, as well!

We've done it for hotels and rental cars, but not flights. We usually start really low and it's rejected, and then work upwards. We can usually get something well lower than we have been quoted on other booking tools. Once we got a rental car from Avis for 5 days for $60, which is $12/day!

  • Yes we bid 1 and it was accepted! But idk if there are any loupoles or anything like that...it concerns me with how low it is?? Idk idk....anymore help would be good!
  • wow!! I do this for hotels all the time when fiance and I go on weekend trips, but I have never heard of it for flights - and definitely have never had anything close to $1 get accepted, haha! I think the best deal we got was a 4 star hotel for $50 bucks/night....but $1 for flying is absolutely insane, haha! please keep us updated!
  • That is awesome, but totally weird! Hope things get resolved!

  • Typically it's not a "bidding" with other people. Priceline will allow you to put whatever price you want in there and then you must wait to see if someone accepts the price. It should let you know by e-mail whether your price has actually been accepted adn it will tell you the flight itinerary. The problems with name your own price for flights are that you can have multiple layovers and changing of planes, but you also won't get to know what time your flight leaves or gets to its destination.
