Daytime wedding? Should I?

I am able to get a great price for a daytime reception from 12 to 5. With a ceremony at 1130. The venue location is one hour away. How should I do the day off wedding planning? How much time goes into hair, makeup etc? Does your makeup artist/ hair dresser usually come to your hotel? Do you see them? I guess I am just worried about a daytime weddig so early and fitting it all in. To have an evening wedding would be at least $2000 more. Ceremony and venue are in one location.

Thanks

Re: Daytime wedding? Should I?

  • I definitely think it's possible to get everything done for an 11:30am wedding. If you're really worried about it, you could call/email a few hair dressers and makeup artists to ask them if they would be able to do an early morning appointment with you.
  • Most would come to the hotel with advance notice. May I ask where are you getting married?

  • That sounds like great timing for a wedding, you'll just have to start everything in the morning. I'd plan for at least 4 hours for hair makeup for you and your girls, depending on how many BMs you have. Definitely ask your hair dresser/makeup artist. many of these stylists will come to your hotel for an additional fee. It’s usually much cheaper if you go to the salon however. Good luck planning!

  • We had a daytime wedding. Our ceremony was at 10 (it was a catholic ceremony so it lasted a little over an hour) and we didn't start until 10:15. We were done around 11:30 and guest went straight to our venue, for a 12pm reception. I used Larissa Lake for my makeup and she came to my house around 7am and was done by 8. She came to my house (my house and church/venue are all within a few miles of each other). Otherwise I would block off 3-4 hours for hair/makeup if all of your BM's are getting theirs done with you.

We were able to fit in everything we needed to do that day. Everyone raved about our wedding and liked the fact they still had their night to continue the partying. We liked it because we were able to go back to my parents house, hang out with some of our closer friends and family, and open gifts later on.

  • i've been to a morning wedding before - it was beautiful! The bride had her hair and makeup done i think they just started like at 6am... no big deal if you don't mind the early hours!  what is your venue?

  • I think it's defintiely doable.  One of the best wedding my husband and I ever attended was a late morning wedding w/ a brunch reception.  It was amazing and such a great idea.  We still rave about it to this day.

  • 100% doable, you just need to start early! My friend had a daytime wedding- after her parents hosted a small "after party". She did say they did not do the rehersal/rehersal dinner the night before the wedding, since they usually can run late, so she did it Thursday night for a Saturday wedding.
  • I had a day time wedding and it was great! Larissa did my makeup and we started at 8am. She came to my hotel and we were done by 10:30am we also had an 11:30am ceremony time. It was perfect! We had the night to continue the party with our closet family/friends.. Worked great for us plus we also saved big time! Good luck!

  • Great information! I am also having a day time wedding and I am planning to start getting ready by 6am/6:30am that way I will be done with hair, make up and dressing by 9/10am this also includes the photos that the photographer will take of my bridesmaids and I getting ready. Afterwards my bridesmaids and I will take our formal bridesmaids/bride pictures (we are getting this part out of the way so we will have the following pictures left to take bridesmaids/brides with: groom/groomsmen, family, guests during cocktail hour and still have time to enjoy cocktail hour)!

  • It is definitely doable but remember that you will be needing to get up very early to get everything ready. Also, depending on your venue and if they have another event after you, you might a bit rushed out towards the end as they have to reset the room.
  • I say go for it! We are going to do a Sunday day wedding :)
  • It’s a tough debate. Friday evening wedding, Saturday Day or Sunday. Ideally, I would love a Saturday evening wedding. Thank you all for your ideas and suggestions. What I have decided is Saturday Day is out. My fiancé rather would have an evening wedding. A Saturday day is doable, based on what I have heard but I think I would feel stressed trying to get it all done. The cost difference between a Friday night versus a Saturday night is 15 per person. I am looking at 100 guest list. Is Friday night that much of a discount? Is it over my budget, yes. Both Friday and Saturday night are. However, can I cut costs elsewhere to make up the difference?

  • We got an awesome price on a Sunday wedding and are doing the church at 2:00 and the reception from 4-9.  I too didn't want an afternoon wedding, but I figured the compromise was to have an early evening wedding.  On Saturday it was either a 12-5 or a 6-11 reception but on Sunday it was like 1/2 the price and we could pick whatever hours we wanted because they will only have our reception.

Also, I'm much more relaxed about vendors because they don't book up nearly as quickly for Sunday weddings as they do for Friday or Saturday nights.
