Rehearsal Dinner in the Branford/New Haven/North Haven Area

Hello,
Can anyone suggest affordable but interesting places to hold a rehearsal dinner? I don't want it to be too formal and would like to keep it under $20pp. Maybe if its even just appetizers and drinks?
Thanks.

  • We're doing ours at BAR in New Haven and just doing a pizza and beer party.  Our wedding is going to be rather formal, so we thought it would be a nice contrast, and fun for out of towners to experience New Haven pizza.   Kitchen Zinc is a fun spot for pizza also....depending on when your wedding is, you could rent out the whole back patio area.

My cousin had hers at Park Central in Hamden, which worked out well.  Not sure on pricing, but they have a nice side room that you have all to yourselves.  Good food.

I love the idea of BAR Katred!! Very fun.

How many people are you thinking She18?? There are tons of great places in New Haven but it will be easier to offer suggestions based on the approximate number of people.

    Also, what time of year??

I wanted something casual also and since i'm from Long Island I had a hard time finding a place. We ended up going with Donovan's Reef in Branford, they have a loft area that is nice and the food was very good when I went to "check it out".

I would say there would be around 25 people max. It would be in September.

Not sure how you would feel having it a more of a bar place but these are my suggestions:

Rudy's has great burgers and is a fun bar (they don't have a website).
    Anna Liffey's http://annaliffeys.com/
Any of the yummy pizza places are good Pepe's, Sally's, Modern but I'm uncertain if they would take a group with a reservation.

  • Grand Apizza in North Haven has a room that I believe holds up to 40 ppl.  For Pizza they charge $13 a person and if you want dinners served I think they said it was $15-$17 (cant remember exactly)  They are located right on Route 5, so very easy to find too!
