Spray Tan

What is everyone's thoughts on Spray Tanning?  How far in advance should you do it for the wedding?  Do you know a place near Hartford or Westbrook?

I think a spray tan is a great idea.  I will probably to a spray tan for my wedding, but would go to a professional spa where they airbrush it on.  I've done Mystic spray tan before, but it came out splotchy in places and my hands and feet were a mess!  Definitely not what you want on your wedding day!  I would do it 1 or 2 days prior to your wedding.  Try calling some reputable spas in your area for recommendations.

I've done spray tanning before, and am planning on doing it for our wedding day.  My recommendation is to at least try it at least once before your wedding so that you can get a good idea of whether you like it or not, and make sure you apply lotion thoroughly to the places that you tell you to, in order to avoid streaking.  Also, I would say probably do it 2-3 days before your wedding because on the first day you'll step out and think you didn't get as much color then the next day you will look veryyyyy tan, so you want to give it a couple of days to set in without fading.  I've done the mystic tan, which is where you are sprayed by a machine rather than a person.  Here is the website to find tanning salons near you that have them. http://www.mystictan.com/locations

i do a few spray tans every summer.  you definitely want to have a person spray you, not a booth.  it will run about $40.

i wouldn't recommend doing it for your wedding at all, but if you think you want to give it a shot, go at least once or twice before the wedding for a trial run.  on me, spray tans NEVER come out perfect.  there's always a splotch or 2, and it's not always in a place that you can easily hide (for example, the creases of my elbows on my inner arms never tan quite right.  also, my hands are always a dead giveaway that i've had a spray tan, but with washing them, after a day or 2 they don't look blotchy).  while it's fine for normal, everyday things, i wouldn't want to chance it for my wedding.

Aloha Tanning in Avon does airbrush tans now, too.  i havent had one there, but i go there for tanning-bed tanning and it's the best place around Hartford IMHO.  Well worth the extra bit of a drive.  they're also doing a special on spray tans right now...they're all $10 off.  http://www.alohatanningsalons.net/

Highly recommend airbush tanning! It is AMAZING!

My salon recommends being sprayed 3 days prior to your wedding. A friend of mine got spray tanned for her wedding & she LOVED it! It came out so nice & you would never be able to tell!!

I prefer the California Tan product line, I used there autobronzer all the time!

I tried a machine spray tan once at a very reputable salon (i.e not cheap) and wow, did I regret it! It looked fake and then proceeded to fade in splotches making me look like I had some skin disease. Perhaps having someone airbrush tan you is better, but I'm skeptical!

I am very light skinned so I spray tan all year round. Usually 1 to 2 times per week. I have done both the booth and airbrushing. For your wedding if you are not familiar with spray tanning get airbrushed. Do not go into a booth. If you are familiar with booth spray tanning and have a place you like to go then you can stick with the booth but you have to find the right one that works for you. It took me forever to finally find a booth that worked without streaking.

Airbrushing is great though for anyone and you can tell them how light or dark you want it. Rituals Spa in Guilford not far from Westbrook does great airbrushing.

I would recommend at least 1 day prior to your wedding. I am going the day of my rehearsal dinner so then I can shower off the excess the morning of the wedding but still be nice and dark.

Also to note make sure to get your eyebrows waxed and pedicures BEFORE spray tanning. Otherwise it will come off and you will streak.

Hello all.  I'm the owner of Zen Bronze Healthy Tanning in Stamford (and a bride who is getting married in 10 days!).  Airbrush tanning is a great thing to do before your wedding.  I suggest 2 days before so my Saturday brides I usually airbrush on Thursday.  I use only organic solution which is very realistic looking so no orange, fake look will develop and I always recommend brides do a light, natural tan.  Remember you don't want people to notice your tan - just your gorgeous glowing skin!  Make sure you check around and do a trial before your wedding.  If you go to a tanning salon and the teenager behind the counter says she will do your airbrush, you may not be getting a trained airbrush artist so be choosy and ask questions.  If the right person airbrushes you and they use a great product, it will look completely natural so try it before your shower or bachelorette party to get a good idea of how it will look on your wedding day.  Good luck!

I do spraytans occasionally I'm very light skinned and I'm going to do a trial at the place I usually go to...Im doing a different color so I want to make sure it looks okay....ditto with starrbuk my hands always look weird i usually put tannnig lotion on them to blend because they never come out right. But Im a big user of gradual tanners. Its hard to do but I've become a pro at applying it alone (even on my back)haha.
