Which wines to serve?

We have to select 2 whites and 2 reds to be served at our wedding.  I will definitely be going with a cabernet for red (my favorite) and a sauvignon blac for white (FMIL's fav) but wasn't sure what to pick for the other two.  Any suggestions?

I think chardonnay or pinot grigio are safe for white and merlot is safe for red. In addition to what you have!

I agree with PP.  If I had to choose, I would go with those.

One way to decide too is to wait until you know what food you are serving and then just google what types of whine "go" with the kindof food....like generally Merlots might go better with chicken and something else could be better with beef (Just an example, I have no idea if its true!)

I'm a bartender and sometimes bartend weddings.  If you are going with sav. blanc I would go with chardonnay over pinot grigio.  The reason being sav. blanc is sweet and so is pino.  At weddings we typically only do chard for white wine unless something else is requested.

As for red I would do cab and merlot.  Again, that's typically what we serve at weddings.
