I'm Jen and he's Cris.

2. Wedding date?
Tentatively (at this point) 5/8/11- with deaths and illnesses in the family, we may have to post pone it til April or May 2012 )o:

1. Hilton Ponce Golf & Casino Resort, Ponce, PR
2. Public Gardens & Chau Chow City, Boston, MA
3. Private Residence (Lowell, MA or Nashua, NH) for Cambodian/Chinese ceremony, FI's church (Chelsea, MA), and we're not too sure if we want a traditional Chinese banquet or a westernized venue...

Confusing- I know! It's hard pleasing two sets of parents with very, very, very different ethnic backgrounds... )o: Booo!

4. How did you and FI/DH Meet?
My family threw a party without my knowledge... so I came home from a hockey game (I was a right-winger in HS) and took a shower. FI was looking for the bathroom... and I stood there in a towel (in front of the bathroom, mind you!) and his only response was, "Can you tell me where the bathroom is?" I pushed him and ran away. Haha, and from there we started a friendship.

5. When did you know he was THE ONE?
He didn't mind that my family is absolutely CRAZY and traditonal... He puts up with our nutty customs with a smile on his face willing to learn.

6.  What do you love most about your FI/DH?
He's ambitious!! -It's contagious!

7. How long have you been together?
4 yrs

8. Do you live together? Why or why not?
My family was relocated back to Ohio when I was a freshman at UCONN. I was all by my lonesome, so FI moved from Boston to be with me in CT.

9. How did FI/DH propose?
I don't have a good story. )o: But asked my parents and grandmother for permission first (in my language!!!)... then when he told me (he's HORRIBLE at keeping secrets), we came to the mutual agreement to get married.

10. How long of an engagement are you having/did you have? Why?
If we get married next year as planned, then a 2 yr engagement. If my grandfather passes... then a 3 yr engagement. We waited so long because 1.) two of my closest relatives passed away and getting married would conflict with burial traditions, 2.) the Chinese fortune teller said that late April/early May in 2011 is our "lucky day"

11. Where do you see yourself as a couple in 5 years? 10 years?
In five years, we'd like to buy a home in either West Hartford or in the Greater Boston area. In ten years, we'd like to have a family started.

12. How many BM/GM do/did you have?
3 GMs and 2 BMs...

13. Favorite wedding vendor so far?
It's weird... but I LOVE my officiant. She is SO nice and made me feel like my crazy plans/customs weren't AS crazy as I thought. And she was very kind when our plans kept changing due to my family members' health issues. She even sent me a card sending her condolences to my family and I- and we haven't even met yet!! She also gets raaaaves on the Boston board. (o: I love my photographer, too,  though.

14. Biggest piece of wedding advice you can share so far?
I can't give advice. )o: I'm a pushover. I wish I could say no!

15. What is/was the hardest part of wedding plans for you?
Incoporating what EVERYONE wants.

16. What is/was your biggest splurge or must have for the big day? Deal finder?
Ehh... probably the all-inclusive trip to Puerto Rico for my family and FI & me. We're staying there for two weeks (we're rock climbing, para-sailing, hiking in the rainforest, kayaking, beach bumming, and etc) and staying at a great hotel.

17. What are you most looking forward to in regards to the wedding? Least?
I just want to get married! I'm actually not looking forward to the cultural ceremony. It's going to take at least 6 hrs. )o:

18. Do you have any special day before the wedding traditions? Day of?
The cultural ceremony itself is a wedding tradition. FI and his family will arrive at my family's house on a horse bearing "gifts" and then they'll play door games... then we'll sit for about 6 hrs as the monks and family elders bless our marriage.

19. Where are you HMing?
We're going to Puerto Rico for 2 weeks one week before the wedding, then we're thinking (haven't booked/researched yet) of staying in London at my uncle's flat for a week, maybe two.

20. What is the best thing you learned on TK?
I love reading vendors reviews!

21. What Knottie wedding would you love to attend? Why?
So cliche... but I'd like to crash everyone's wedding! Especially Sandra's because the wines at HB were SOOOO yummy!!! I'm definitely into wine now!

22. What is something you learned from TK that you never heard of prior?
B-pics! Gotta crack that whip and go to the gym!! I booked my b-pic session in the fall. (o: I'm reeeally nervous, but excited!!

23. What other boards do you visit on TK?
Boston, Cape Cod, May 2011, Chinese, and Latino... I'm a real lurker though.

24. What do you do for a career? What does FI/DH do?
I'm a pharm student at UCONN. I intern at the local hospitals and at Boston Children's. FI's a med student.

25. Do you want children?
Yes! Within the next ten years, we'd like to have at least one biological child and one adopted child.

26. Do you think you could be/will ever be a SAHM (stay at home Mom)?
I think it could be fun... maybe.

27. Do you have any pets? Names?
FI and I have two cats, Zorro and Otie-two domestic short hairs, and one dog, Kuro- a chihuahua/beagle mix.

I'm the oldest of four!

I LOVE dim sum.

Honestly, I would donate the money to FI's church.

Sometimes I wish that we could get married in CT. It would be SO much easier getting married locally. But over 190 of our guests live in the Greater Boston/north of Boston.

We decided to do Mystic, CT as a compromise for FI's large family coming down from Boston...but no where near 190 and the all of my family is in CT.

I love the story of how you guys met. So cute!! I love how you and your FI are going to incorporate so much of both of your cultures into the wedding. I think the most Chinese/Taiwanese thing we are doing is just the tea ceremony. My family is not traditional so when we set the date we didn't even look at the chinese calendar or consult a fortune teller.

I would looooooved to have Mystic wedding (at the aquarium!!!). FI and I lived in Groton City for a 1.5 yrs and we loooved it there. And ehhh... my family is actually pissed that I'm only inviting family- for a guest list of 250. My cousin's wedding was two weeks ago, and he had over 400 people show up! Crrrraaazzyyy!!

It's funny to think of how we met. We were so young!! Lol! To honor my Chinese/HK ancestry, we're doing the tea ceremony... and we're hiring a troupe of dragon dancers to kick start the reception (not sure if it'll be a traditional Chinese banquet yet...). Personally, I hope to have more western-ish things for the wedding...
