Do bridesmaid dresses get paid in full?

That's my question (haha).

I guess I expected that my girls could put down a deposit when they order but the manager just told me that the payment is required in full.
not sure if this is standard or if it's this shop or if it's because this dress will be discontinued??

Thanks ladies!

i've never heard of paying in full for a bridesmaids that has to be ordered and  probably altered, it would make it more difficult to get all that money back if there were an issue.  if the dress is a discontinued style that is probably the reason, but i would be leary of paying in full for that reason!

I think it depends on where you order the dresses from. My bridesmaids ordered at Harold's in New Haven, and they only had to put 1/2 down, and pay the balance when they came to pick up the dress (plus alterations).

I had to pay in full for my friend's wedding and I believe Davids Bridal had my girls pay in full as well.

I think my girls dresses were 180 total and they had to leave 120 when they ordered them. That was with Julie Allen Bridal

My girls had to put 60% down.  that was at Bancroft Bridal

I know when I got a BM dress for a friends wedding I had to pay in full at Davids bridal, but any other shop I only had at least a 50% deposit.

I have never put down a full payment for any of the weddings that I have been in! It was just a deposit & then pay in full when the dress came in & after alterations!

For the wedding I was in last summer, I didn't have to pay in full right away.  I believe I put a $100 deposit down and paid the rest when the dress came in and the alterations were done (about $180 total).  I think it was a 50% deposit....this was at Bridal Bells in Berlin, CT

I've only been a bridesmaid once, and when I ordered my dress I just needed to put down a deposit and pay off the rest when the dress came in. It was the same situation with my bridesmaids for my wedding. I think they put down a 50% deposit and had to pay it off when the dresses came in. We ordered the dresses from Classic Brides by Eva in Stratford because Eva is too sweet and alterations are FREE! :0)

Usually a deposit is needed and the rest is paid when the dress comes in. It may depend on the shop since they can have their own rules.

    Thanks everyone!

I decided not to go with this dress or the shop.  It was feeling too crazy having to rush the order before the dress got discontinued. PLUS, I didn't like the way the shop was communicating with me (not returning phone calls, etc.).  There were just too many signs telling me to go elsewhere and take my time.

And it was just too much money to ask my girls to put down in such a short amount of time.

I appreciate all of the comments!
