Food?

I'm vegan, along with a total of 3 other guests. Everyone else eats meat. My fiance & I are picky eaters. We both love pasta & pizza. We were thinking of doing possibly a pasta & salad bar with a bunch of different kinds of pizzas.

Pasta bar:
- whole wheat organic spaghetti
- organic fettuccine or bowtie pasta
- alfredo
- marinara
- olive oil sautee type sauce
- meatballs
- italian sausage
- peas
- sauteed vegetables
- mushrooms
- breadsticks
etc.

Salad bar:
- romaine, caesar, iceberg, spring mix
- broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, cauliflower, chickpeas, onions, tomatoes etc.
- assorted salad dressings
- croutons, cheeses, other toppings.

Pizza:
- pepperoni
- cheese
- hamburger
- vegan cheese
- broccoli
- vegan cheese & broccoli etc.

Any thoughts/ideas?

It will be in a rustic, historic barn with a very laid back/casual/party atmosphere

Re: Food?

  • I think your list up there looks excellent.  Even though you are vegan, it is good to see tha tyou will have a good selection for your non-vegan friends and family.
  • It is also mostly family (my fiance has a pretty big family..6 brothers and sisters alone!) and we all know them personally and we aren't formal at all. So I think that would fit with our "vibe" we have going too. I didn't want to do everything vegan and never hear the end of it from my side of the family. Although, cake/cupcakes will be vegan (secretly!) and we may have a vegan ice cream truck too!
  •  I think that menu sounds awesome! Everythings sounds delicious and your vegans will definitely have options.

There is a cafe in New Haven called Cafe Romeo on Orange Street that offers vegan cupcakes and other sweets. If your caterer isn't proving them and you do not have a baker yet, I would talk to them. I have had a few different vegan cupcakes from them and they are DELICIOUS!

I think it sounds great for a laid back reception.  You've given many choices for different diet preferences.

Not sure where you're located, but the Sweet Spot in New Milford does AMAZING vegan cupcakes too.  They also do gluten free.  I just had them make a banana cake w/ peanut butter filling and chocolate buttercream.  It was TO DIE FOR.  I keep dreaming of it.  It wasn't vegan, but I often get their vegan cupcakes, and you would never know they're vegan unless you were told.  They also use unbleached flour and I think they sometimes do organic... probably on request.

  • Your menu sounds delicious! Pasta, salad, AND pizza...my three favorites! :)
    Anniversary
  • I've been to Cafe Romeo and had their vegan pizza and vegan coffee cake! I'm all about places that offer vegan cupcakes...my favorite. I'll have to check those places out...for the wedding of course.
  • This sounds yummy. Just make sure none of your guests at gluten-free, because that's a lot of grains!
