Caribbean Honeymoon Help!

Hi Ladies,

I'm back for more honeymoon advice.  My fiance and I are set on a Caribbean honeymoon, but we just can't seem to get all the pieces together.  When we find an island we like, we can't get good airfare.  When we find a resort, the prices are too much.  This is not as easy or fun as I thought it would be!  Can you make any suggestions?  Here is My NEED and LIKE list:

NEED: an island that Jet Blue flies to, a resort that feels like  a luxurious honeymoon and not some Holiday Inn somewhere

WANT: We like Aruba and St. Lucia the best, and all-inclusive would be a plus.

I don't really know WHY I don't want to go to Mexico or Jamaica, but I'm just not feeling anything we see there.  I've also heard so many mixed reviews about Sandals that I don't think I'd like to do that, either.

I think I might want to vacation in my own backyard after all of this! Thanks in advance...

Re: Caribbean Honeymoon Help!

  • with all the trouble you are having you may just want to look into a 7-10 day caribbean cruise that way everything is included you can get a honeymoon suite and experience different island instead of being stuck on one for the whole trip and it would more than likely save you lots of money. hope this helps
  • There are southern Caribbean cruises that go to St Lucia,St. Maarten, St Kitts etc. It does seem like you are having alot of trouble

  • I hear ya with this, we are having the same problem!!  And we don't want to go on a cruise either!  I'm interested to see what other knotties have to say!  Good luck!
  • Same problem here (although I don't care which airline, as long as it's reasonable.)  Maybe the better question is - what travel agents would you recommend to help.
  • Okay I hope I'm not jinxing myself here... but... we think we found it!! It's not really AI, but the price for the PENTHOUSE is so reasonable that we can afford to pay for meals separately.  I'll post back tomorrow after I call to reserve and see if it all works out!

FYI- we went to two different travel agents and found that they really didn't get any better of a price then we could get with our own hard work.  It seems that the only "plus" is that they "back you up'" if something goes wrong in terms of the hotel or price, but I honestly can't see myself calling someone back in NY from the front desk in Aruba while I'm standing right there and can handle it myself.  IDK... JMO.
