Vegan wedding cake

Does anyone know of a bakery that regularly does vegan cakes or cupcakes? I would think cupcakes would be a bit more pricey. I'm sure there are bakeries that could accomodate vegans but I really want someone who does it frequently so that they don't mess it up...

  • The Sweet Spot in New Milford does both vegan and gluten free cakes and cupcakes in addition to regular ones.  I love their vegan cupcakes.  I usually can't tell the difference between them and their regular ones.  Everything's great there when it's fresh.  I do have a friend that ordered a gluten free cake from them once, and it wasn't the best.  Their gluten free cupcakes are delicious though.

  • I would suggest Cloud Nine Catering out of Old Saybrook. They do awesome cakes and cupcakes, and the owners are kind of hippies - for some reason that makes me think they will do awesome vegan bakery items. Definitely worth a call!
  • Dee's One Smart Cookie Bakery in Glastonbury.
I've never been myself but have heard good things.

  • Where are you located.  I know someone who does my dairy free cakes and basically told me she uses a vegan recipe for it.  You can find her here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Edible-Couture/219153334821230?fref=ts

I just had a tasting for my vegan wedding cake (3/10/13) with A Little Imagination Cakes.  The baker has some amazing examples of really creative work, plus the cake was delicious!  We also came to her with a somewhat elaborate cake design (A castle) and she was excited to work with us, and came up with options that worked with our budget. I know she also does some beautiful cupcakes!  She's in Middletown, CT
  • I second the Sweet Spot in New Milford. They have amazing vegan options. Be careful when you are getting a vegan cake...make sure that hey have made them before. They aren't hard to do, but you want to make sure htey do the right substitutions/ratios/etc. And sometimes you can get the chemical taste from vegan margarine if you aren't doing it correctly.
  • nora cupcakes in middletown they have a vegan menu
  • Dees in Glastonbury is amazing, you cannot go wrong there. When I was a resident one of my colleagues did a presentation on celiac disease and brought gluten free cupcakes from dees and regular ones from sugar belle and did a bling taste testing...the gluten free ones from dees won! I'm pretty sure they're vegan too...
  • We arent vegan but have vegan guests and we're ordering vegan cupcakes for them through wholefoods. They are really well priced and all my vegan friends said they taste great.
