Bridal Shows

Has anyone been to a bridal show and would that attending on was a good move? If so, do you know of any coming up in the area or the best way to locate one?
I live in Boston, but am getting married in CT, so I'm thinking the one up here won't be as much good as a local CT one.

Any thoughts, suggestions, comments are welcome.

Thanks!

I don't have an answer to your question but I'm wondering the same myself.  I also live in the Boston area and am getting married in CT!

I personally didn't find them helpful, and found many of the vendors not to be the best in the area.  Also, DO NOT give the vendors your phone number or personal email address.  You will get a billion scam phone calls for free stuff that really isn't free. 'Congratulations you just won an amazing free honeymoon!  All you need to do to receive it is pay $3000!'.  Many of the vendors become hounds and call non-stop to solicit your business.  it sucks.  If you want to give info out, set up a wedding email address that you're okay getting spam in.

I honestly found the best vendor advice here on TK.  I do think you can get some good discount deals on vendors, but you absolutely have to be careful which vendors you are choosing.  Some are great legit reputable vendors, others not so much.

At the top of the CT board there is a listing for recommended CT vendors.  That would be a good starting place for you to find vendors, since everyone listed there has been used and recommended by a CT knottie.

    Good luck with your search!

I agree with Carrie!! It wasn't much help at all!! I agree with everything she said!! The CT knotties have a wealth of knowledge and can help guide you towards the best vendors.. Not just the ones that show up At a bridal show..

I love bridal shows....because I like to eat the free cake haha but that's about it, really. Mostly the vendors are just annoying. I did get an amazing deal on who turned out to be our DJ but that's about it.

I went to one, but it was only because it was at the venue I was interested in (which I did book).  I didn't think it was that great.  They only had their preferred vendors there which in my opinion were the most expensive ones out there.  I definitely don't think it would be helpful to go to one in Boston, because CT vendors won't be there.  With the internet and the Knot you can do so much research on vendors and don't need a bridal show.  (The cake is good though)

BTW I live in Boston and getting married in CT too!!

The one that is at the Mohegan Sun Casino has all of CT's best vendors there. If you were going to attend any, that would be the one that I would suggest

Bridal shows can be fun, but like everyone said, don't give your number or email address to the vendors because they will hound you. We only booked one of our vendors through a bridal fair, our photographer. They can be fun, especially if there are food and cake samples, but you can get a lot better ideas from vendors from the girls on this board.

I've gone to a few but only for the delish food and for the hopes that I'm going to win the grand prize raffle for a free honeymoon!  Otherwise I just end up coming home with lots of pamphlets I don't need...

Seriously, these ladies are the biggest help you could ask for!  It's an incredible resource when planning your wedding.  I'm located 2000 miles away and have been planning sight-unseen for most everything!  And I feel 100% comfortable with each vendor I've booked because it's come Knottie-approved!

The two things I'm down to now are frustrating because I haven't gotten as much Knottie advice - tent rentals because most girls had set venues and didn't rent tents, and makeup artists near Groton, CT because I am not having a bridal party so no one will travel to me!
