Anyone familiar with the Guilford area?

I'm looking for a nice park type setting where we can have our laid back rehearsal dinner (probably bringing in food).  It'd have to be something with a pavilion in case of rainy weather.  The caterer we're considering said they'd waive the travel fee if the place was within 30 minutes of Guilford.  Plus that's a good halfway point between our venue and our home.  TIA!

Re: Anyone familiar with the Guilford area?

  • I am from Guilford.  The only park with a pavillion that i can think of is at Jacob's Beach which has a beach and open field with a pavillion, but it is not a beautiful park like what I am imagining you are looking for.  There is also Hammonaset State Park in Madison which is very large and has different areas where you may be able to set up, but there is an entrance fee during the summer.
  • Thanks, Hammonassett would've been perfect but there's a fee to rent the pavilion and then a fee for everyone to park, that'd I'd feel like I should cover.  So that just almost adds up to the travel fee anyway.

  • In North Madison there is a park called Chatfield Hallow, but there may be an entrange fee as well. In Guilford you could probably rent the Dudley Farm barn, but it may cost money.
