St Thomas - things to do

We will be in St Thomas staying at the Frenchman's Cove Marriott.  I'd love to have a couple activities planned, like a scuba diving lesson, fun hikes, etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations for fun activities in St Thomas?  And/or specific companies to use (like which company to use for a scuba diving lesson).

Thanks!!!

  • I would use the dive vendor at the Marriott.  The name is not coming to me right now, but they are good.

I would take a trip to St John.  You can catch the ferry from downtown or Red Hook (25 mins away).  Red Hook has more trips, so it tends to be more convenient.  St John has good hiking trails.

Take a trip to the BVI (you need a passport).   Breakaway, New Horizons, Stormy  Petral are all good companies.

You can also take Daydreamer to JostVanDyke, BVI.  It's a nice catamaran.

I'm not a fan of the half day boat trips out of the Marriott.  Due to the location of the Marriott they really can only go  Buck Island.   Buck Isand is okay, but not my favorite.

Sunset sails from the Marriot are good though.

  • Thanks!!  We had thought about going to the BVI for a day, and hiking in St John sounds great.
  • Go to St. John! We absolutely loved it there

  • My fiance and I are considering a honeymoon in St. Thomas next October but we hear that it is hurricane season. Is there really a good chance of bad weather in the second half of October in St. Thomas?

There is always chance.  All of the Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico, Central American and Mexico have a chance.

But IMO not enough to keep people from coming down.  The odds are very, very low that you will be hit.  Just get insurance.
