Charming and Affordable CT wedding venues! Help!

Hey Knotties!

I am hitting a wall in my venue search and was hoping for suggestions! I am looking for a charming semi rustic (non banquet hall type) space for my wedding but have a tight budget at around $20,000. I love the look of the Lace Factory but it has to be over by 10pm, is sort of out in the middle of nowhere and slightly above budget. I have lots of people coming up from NYC (myself included!) so somewhere close to a bigger city/town would be ideal. I've looked at tons of stuff and the places I love are either too small (we'll need to accomadate at least 135) or too expensive! Help please! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

(side note: we have some time, hoping to wed in May 2014, and I'm not afraid of DIY!)

I am having my wedding at grassy hill lodge in derby ct. Has a rustic feel and is located very close to the Merritt parkway for friends coming in from NYC. Also vet budget friendly and plenty of space!

I haven't been to a wedding there, but Country Loft Antiques in Woodbury seems to fit the idea you're going for. http://countryloftantiques.com/events/ I'm not sure of their pricing, though.

The Brandford House in Groton is amazing, and you might be able to get it to work within your budget since there is a site fee and you can figure out your own catering, etc.

Also, there are a bunch of Connecticut brides chatting on a private Facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/groups/ctweddingplanning/ (click joing group in upper right), I asked a few questions there and got some good feedback so you might want to try asking that group.
