Favors???

Ok so it's getting close and I still don't know what I want to do for favors. What are you girls doing?

Re: Favors???

  • We decided not to do favors. Unless the favor is good food, most people don't seem to care about it. I don't think they'll be missed, and we save money to put somewhere else.
  • We're skipping favors

  • We went a little overboard:

We did mini silver elephant placecard holders from The Knot store (elephants have a special meaning for me that I incorporated into a short thank you speech).  I've actually seen them around a lot of people's houses since then, which is nice.

Then, as a cheaper compromise to a candy bar, I wrapped up 3 sticks of rock candy, tied it with a ribbon, and had it on everyone's place setting.  (that was probably the least necessary but I had fun making them haha).

Finally, we did silver starfish bottle openers (1 per couple)- which a lot of people seemed to like and have used since then.

    Good luck!!
  • we are doing a chocolate treat from a candy store in Litchfield Connecticut and a donation to Connecticut Breast Health Initiative.  My godmother and FMIL are both survivors.  100% of proceeds stay in CT
  • We are doing little jars of honey that we are getting from a farm in VT. we are putting them in mason jelly jars and they are also going to act as escort cards. We are going to attach a kraft paper tag that our calligrapher is going to write everyone's name and table #s on.

  • We are making homemade sweet and sour sauce that we are canning. I felt it was more of a personal touch than just a candle, matchbook, or  jordan almonds in a bag with our name on it.

  • We aren't doing favors either. What we decided to do is to just buy a bunch of Hershey kisses in wrappers matching our colors (the kisses with almonds are in gold wrappers) and put the round stickers on the bottom with our names. It will serve a dual purpose-- it's a scatter for the table and a treat for the guests.

  • We are doing a candy buffet.  Instead having guests fill bags we bought jars at Ocean State Job Lot (so they could be reused).  We are putting some rock candy in the bottom that will coincide with the color of their meal choice.  Then we are using ribbon and putting tags around the necks of the jars which will say thank you and the guests name and table number.

We're giving each guest a deck of playing cards and a mini bag of our favorite popcorn (from popcornopolis). It's zebra popcorn- caramel popcorn drizzled with dark chocolate and white chocolate- it is SOOOO GOOD and so addicting (I don't even like caramel popcorn or dark chocolate- but I love this popcorn).

  • I'm going simple and edible. Either cake pops or oreo truffles or both.
  • We're thinking of doing chocolate form our favorite candy store, See's.  It's only on the west coast, but I'm always traveling out there and always have to bring back California Brittle for my FI and family, so I think we will do a box of that for everyone with an explaination that it's our favorite candy, from California (everyone knows we are big travelers)

  • I'm doing s'more kits :) to go with our rustic theme and we love camping!
  • We are doing s'mores packages too b/c we are campers & getting married at Rocky Neck State Park, and after dinner there is going to be a fire pit/S'Mores bar outside the pavilion.
  • Candy buffet! We bought plastic containers, personalized them with ribbon & a letter M and are putting one on every place setting. I love personalized favors :)
  • We are also doing a candy buffet.
  • We are doing a Dessert Buffet with a mini gable box to go ( FI and I love desserts) and also our escort cards are starfish that are also our favors.

  • We're doing a chocolate truffle from a chocolatier in VT, it's actually my college roommate's dad's chocolate company, so I have fond memories of eating these truffles throughout my college years :) We're putting a single truffle in a lavender gift box (one of our colors) and I'm getting personalized labels for the top of the box that will have our names, date, and a seashell (we are getting married on the shore so we are incorporating small seashell details here and there). We will also have a ton of italian cookies, because it is tradition, and little white bakery bags for guests to take home their own doggie bag of cookies

  • We're doing rosemary infused olive oil (which we're infusing ourselves) in a corked glass bottle. We're both italian and FI is a huge cook so it fits in with us and it's something people can use.
