Honeymoon!

Where did/is everyone honeymooning?

Did you love it?  Was it easy to get to?  Worth the price you paid?

I still have so much wedding planning to do, but all I care about is the vacation after ;)

Re: Honeymoon!

  • We went to the Valentin Imperial Maya in Riviera Maya, Mexico. It was beautiful, easy to get to and close to some great excursion sites, and definitely worth the price we paid.

I have a full review of VIM in my vendor reviews on my married bio, but the short version is that they have beautiful grounds, a very friendly and helpful staff, tons of space and lots to do. Three great parks are very close- Xplor, Xel-Ha and Xcaret. We went to the first two, and had a great time at both.

We booked our honeymoon through cheapcaribbean.com and got great prices. We also looked at prices on applevacations and bookit.com, because for some resorts those sites were cheaper.

    Good luck!
  • I will be going to PuntCana next month.  The reviews are fantastic and the pictures look beautiful. To me the price seems reasonable for what is included in our package.  I'm the same as you, I cant wait to be married and take a nice vacation after :)  Good Luck choosing a place, there are so many options to choose from.  Oh, its only a 3 1/2 hour flight :)
  • We went to Disney and stayed at the Beach Club. May not have been the most relaxing honeymoon but we loved it! We went in October so the weather was perfect and the food and wine festival was going on at Epcot which was great.

The thing we like about Disney is all of the transportation is taken care of for you (bus to and from the airport, transportation to/from parks etc). We got non stop flights out of Hartford on JetBlue(Southwest also has direct flights) and were there in 2.5 hours.

Enjoy your honeymoon wherever you choose to go!

We did a Caribbean cruise that stopped in the Bahamas, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten (on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas).  It was my first time on a cruise, and I'm officially obsessed with cruising now!  It was the perfect mix of fun and relaxation for us.

I love cruising! We are also taking a cruise, going on Royal Carribbean's Allure of the Seas (Bahamas, St. Maarten, St. Thomas [heading over to St. John]). This will be my 5th cruise and second time on the Allure. You get to see different places, relax all day, or participate in an endless amount of activities/entertainment!

  • We went to St. Lucia and stayed at the Sandals Grande. We absolutely LOVED it! We stayed in the highest level rooms, the Rondovals on the beach, and it was gorgeous. We had our own luxurious suite, private pool, and private jacuzzi. We also had two butlers who waited on us hand and foot. They do anything and everything for you--from booking excursions, to booking dinner reservations and escorting you to the dinners, leaving surprises in your room (food, bubble baths, champagne, etc.), reserving beach chairs, bringing you drinks throughout the day, etc. Anything you can think of, they will do. Because we chose the highest level room, it was very expensive, but I think it was totally worth it. I wouldn't have changed a thing. I've travelled to many tropical vacations before and Hawaii several times, and St. Lucia is def. one of the most beautiful I've seen.

  • Ours was a 3 part trip.  First we went to San Diego for a day and a half.  We went to the zoo there.  Second part was Oahu, Hawaii and the third part was Maui, Hawaii.

We booked through AAA and had a couple little bumps and a major bump with Pleasant Holidays.  I will never book a vacation through PH again.  In a nutshell, we booked our Pearl Harbor excursion 4 months before our trip because we were only going to Oahu for a day and a half and that's the only reason we went to Oahu.  I'll spare all of the details for now (unless someone asks) but despite having it paid for, confirmation number, supposedly e-mailing my TA from AAA, and leaving me a voicemail while we were on the plane they still sold our seats all because they claim they didn't know what hotel we were staying at.  Mind you, our entire honeymoon was booked through Pleasant Holidays so they really could have found out the information and I called them as soon as we arrived at our hotel at 2pm.  We got refunded but they told our AAA TA that they wouldn't do any more for us.  I went above my TA's head and went directly to PH who then contacted my TA.  Everything eventually got settled with a credit to our credit card, but not after them trying to give us useless vouchers first.  We refuse to EVER plan another trip with Pleasant Holidays.

Overall, our honeymoon was amazing because we've both always wanted to go there so we didn't let our disappointment/anger affect our trip.

  • We just booked ours today for hawaii! We are going to 5 nights on the Big Island and 5 in Maui.

  • We are going on a short one because I'm in nursing school so I cant miss time. Unfortunately we're going to Miami this weekend so that should be interesting. Any change in plans with the tickets/hotel had us losing upwards of 1000 so were just going to deal with it. Apparently only the crazy people fly TO a hurricane.

  • I'm so inspired now!  I'm literally going to look at all of these suggestions!  Picking a photographer can wait, ha ha!
  • We did a Southern Caribbean cruise out of San Juan on RCCL. It was definitely worth every penny. DH doesn't like being in one place for too long plus he's only requirement for the honymoon is a casino near by so the cruise was perfect. Word of advice is always get travel insurance no matter if you are going on a cruise or land based vacation.
  • We're going to Cabo for 5 nights, then flying to LA and renting a car and driving to Palm Springs for 2 nights and then onto Vegas for three nights to end the trip.
