invitations

how many months in advance do you buy and send the invites? EmbarassedLaughingWink thank you

Re: invitations

  • Most timelines say to order them about 5-6 months in advance, and send them 2-3 months in advance.  My fiance and I have one of thos "A and B' guest lists so we'll be sending them three months in advance, so if we invite people from the "B" list there's still enough time.

  • Saundeks, please please don't do a B-guest list. It makes your guests feel AWFUL and like they're not good enough. People are posting on these boards all the time (mostly Etiquette and Chit Chat) how they got a B list invite and they're really upset about it.

OP, all of your guests should be on one list, and you should send out invitations 6-8 weeks in advance. When you buy them is up to you, but consider in shipping time and whether or not you want to send them somewhere to get calligraphy done.
  • I ordered mine in March and sent them out in May for a July wedding. They took about 6 weeks to come in, and then addressing them takes times so make sure you account for that as well.

  • I'm ordering my invites soon and then sending them out in February for an early april wedding.
