DJ Help

Hi all, I'm getting married in October of this year and am looking for a DJ. We're having the reception in the upstairs at the Union League Cafe in New Haven and are expecting ~90ppl.
I'm wondering if anyone has any DJ recommendations for me, I've looked online and there are so many of them I don't even know where to start.

Thanks so much!

Re: DJ Help

  • Im using http://www.afterhoursdj.net/

They've been great so far! They also mailed me a CD of samplings that I loved and was a big part of deciding to go with them!
  • I know a lot of people on here use DJ Melee. I'm not because we are using a family friend who is a DJ but DJ Melee seems to be the best price!

  • We're using Take 2 Karaoke and Disc Jockies: http://www.take2kjdj.net/

They're a husband and wife duo and I've been to several weddings where they were used and I think they're great! Their prices are also very reasonable.

  • We are using Music in Motion. I have been to 2 other weddings that used them and they were fabulous!

  • I'm using Zach Dauphinais and so are several other girls on the boards. He's very down to earth and fun to work with and he knows his stuff! His prices are very reasonable, I'd recommend checking him out! musictogoct.com

  • I haven't booked my DJ yet, so I'm no help, but I just wanted to say hi because I'm a Union League bride as well! There aren't too many of us on the boards, it seems. Welcome!
  • That's so neat, I haven't met anyone else who was getting married there! When's your wedding??

We are also using After Hours (Sal/Sabrina). They are super organized and met with us for over an hour. They were not pushy, they just told us what they do, didn't expect us to make a deposit and held our date for 2 weeks after we met with them to decide if we wanted to go with them. They even advised us to speak with other DJs in the meantime to get an idea of what they offer vs. other companies. Once you book you are set up online to put in the songs that you would like to have at your reception (not just the intros, first dance, etc...) which I really like!

We used After Hours out of Enfield. Different website address than this post: http://www.afterhoursdj.com/
Peter DJed our wedding and he was amazing- truly above and beyond.
  • I also recommend Zach Dauphinais. So far he's been great to work with and his prices are very reasonable. Good luck!

  • I am using RJ the DJ. I am also an October Bride and I would try to call right away. I booked mine in the December and he already had a lot of days booked for that month. October has become the new June, I was told.

  • Budget question, since most DJs don't have right on their website. Does anyone know generally how much to budget for a DJ, say hi-low range?

  • Another DJae Melee recommendation!
  • We are using "After Hours DJ" from Enfield also. But they are www.afterhoursdj.com. They have been great to work with. Good luck.
