Help with rings...

I got a blue Nile e ring which I loved and I just ordered the matching wedding band from there also. The rings look nice together and they match perfectly but I feel like it is just not what I wanted. When I have on both rings it looks like one which I don't like and also my bands are very thin ( I think 1.8mm). Would it be unheard of to gt a whole new e ring And wedding ring? I would keep my diamond and just put it in a different band/setting something very similar but a thicker band. Anyone have a recommendation for a jewelry store where I can trade in my bands. Central ct preferred (I'm in Middletown).

Re: Help with rings...

  • I don't have any recommendations of where to go, but I think it's perfectly fine to do that as long as your FI is on board. I never told my FI the kind of ring I wanted, so when he proposed, my band was very thin as well (I like thicker bands). Instead of getting a whole new e-ring and wedding band, we went to our jeweler and designed two wedding bands that would surround my e-ring, kind of like a wrap.

  • I think if FI is on board, go for it! Most Jewelery stores will let you redesign rings...though it will cost you money!
  • It's funny you say that... I actualy wish my band was smaller because I think a thicker band takes a little away from your diamond and makes it look smaller.  But that's just me!! Anyway, I agree.. if FI doesn't mind that you're changing the ring he gave you, I don't see anything wrong with it.

  • I highly recomend Malloves Jewelers in Middletown! Thats where my e ring is from and they did an amazing job customizing it with my FI around a diamond that we got from his grandmother.  I have also gotten most of my other jewelry there in the past and they are always really nice and super helpful!
  • Thanks all. I went to the store and looked at wedding bands and decided to keep my e ring and just get a different wedding band. Even though it doesn't "match" a. Channel set thicker band looked good with my ring.
