Saybrook Point Inn - thoughts?

Yesterday I took a tour of Saybrook Point Inn (Old Saybrook) and absolutely fell in love with it. I would be interested to hear feedback from other brides or guests who have been to weddings at SPI. It is my number one choice of venue right now, but I haven't booked it just yet...

The only drawback I noticed was the cost of the hotel rooms. Although they give you a reduced rate when you book multiple rooms on your wedding night, it is not reduced by much (the rooms are still $300 per night and up, and I know that will be a bit steep for my WP to afford!)

I really want my immediate family and WP to be able to stay at the Inn with us, so that we can do brunch on the day after our wedding - is it rude to book a venue with expensive overnight accomodations?

    I am getting married at SPI in April and I blocked rooms at the local comfort inn and also gave guests other choices. They are all within 10 min of each other ( that is between venue and hotel). I don't think it 's rude if you give them other options. Maybe consider paying or splitting with them if you want them to stay there. Good luck!

    I thought of blocking off rooms at the Comfort Inn too - are you planning on providing transportation from SPI to the comfort inn for your guests? I'm not sure if I should do that too. (I was hoping I wouldn't have to throw a limo/bus into my budget) ...I'm so in love with SPI, I'm hellbent on making the accomodations work! :)

    I'm not providing transportation, I figure if the out of town guests are gonna be here they'd be renting a car and it's about 10 mins drive so it's not so bad.  I have directions on my invite so I don't think it'll be an issue.

    Yea I totally love SPI!!!  I can't wait for the day :)
