Val McCormick?

I googled wedding photographers in the New Haven area and her page came up. I was really impressed by the work on her website, but I want to know more, as her rates are pretty steep.

Anyone heard anything about her or used her?

Or does anyone have a good photographer for less than $3500?

Confusing thing about Val is that, after being on the site for some time now, I used to see rave reviews about Val and hear about how amazing her work is.  But not just the one particular Knottie who had a big issue with her recently, but a few 2011 TK CT brides have said they were less than impressed by her work as of late.

I'm not sure what's going on, but don't leave your wedding to chance!!!  For Val's prices there are many fantastic photographers out there

Not sure what Val's prices actually are, but some board recommendations that may or may not be in her price range include:

King Vincent Storm
HK Photography

Knotties - any others I'm forgetting?

I need to look into HK more, I think. I've heard good things and I think one of my co-workers used them. King Vincent Storm is recommended by my venue (Anthony's Ocean View) but it's not at ALL my style, unfortunately. Val had a package for $3500, which seems steep, but I want good pictures, so we'll probably end up spending around that much.

I had the same budget, and looked at all the photographers recommended by these girls.  The ones that impressed me the most as an art nerd (depth, balance, focus, clarity, composition, etc.) were Alexis Stein Photography.  They're definitely in your budget, even though they live in Long Island and would have a small travel fee.  They're a married couple and really, really, REALLY talented and experienced!

Also, no matter who you choose to go with, be sure to ask for a full wedding as it was delivered to the bride.  That will give you a better idea as to the consistency of the photographer.  I saw a lot of websites with pretty pictures, but when I asked for a full wedding, there were only a handful of pictures that I would consider frame-able.  My top 5 photographers had at least 40-60% frameable.  I think that's really important - anyone can get lucky and post the 'best' from a bunch of weddings, but you want to make sure you're going to get a whole bunch of wonderful photographs from YOUR wedding!

Like Jenny's photos - you can see a FULL wedding, and know that you'd be delighted to have that many pictures of that quality from your wedding!  If I hadn't hired my photographers, I likely would have hired Visual Obsession.

Check out Eric Brushett at ericbrushett.net

He is awesome, friendly, will tailor the photo package to you, and work with your budget. Eric also doesn't charge extra to release you the photos afterwards. A lot of photographers try to get you to buy prints from them to make more money. Eric doesn't do that which is nice!!

Thank you!  We did them in Long Island - we took the ferry from New London and spent the day.  The photographers literally spent 6 hours with us, picking us up from the ferry and driving us all over.  We went to a cute little town where we took some dock pictures, rode the carousel, and some in-town pictures.  We then went to a vineyard for the rest (and an outfit change).  It was a BLAST!

I used Val and i have no complaints love my e-pics and weddding pics, no regrets whats so ever. you have to really interview your photographer and see if you connect with them , like their work and of course see what they offer there are many good ones on here and have lots to offer for a good deal.. Good luck

We used Catherine Fiehn and loved her! Check her out. I'm really surprised by all the stuff on this link. I've seen one of the whole weddings of one girl on here and was really not impressed and wondering why they are saying they are so great. I guess everyone has their favs. One of my friends just used Val (she is the type of person who loves to spend & out do) but hasn't gotten her photos back yet from October but I will let you know how they are.
