Check out city owned places too... parks, civic centers, community buildings, etc.

CT is very expensive. How many guests are you planning on having. What part of the state? Are you planning on a sit down dinner?

It can be done...I didn't spend nearly as much as I thought I would.  Keep checking around.

Agreed with PP, we need more details like guest counts, budget, area, etc. Generally anything near the water will be more expensive.

We are getting married in December and on a Friday, both of which help lower the price significantly.  You can also try getting a simple, empty venue and then you can cater it in your budget any way you want.  Try maybe having a cocktail party instead of a sit down dinner with tons of hors doeurvres or appetizers and desserts.
