The Woodwinds

Has anyone ever been to a wedding at The Woodwinds in Branford, or gotten married there?  We just booked it as our venue and got it for a very reasonable price (because we originally booked in 2009, and postponed our wedding to 2012).

I haven't gotten married there....YET!  We are getting married there June 30, 2012.  We went to the bridal show there in March and it looks great (heard they did a lot of upgrades), food is delicious, and everyone raves about Scott, the banquet manager who we have yet to meet.  What's the date of your wedding?

Garden as well, and we are having the ceremony outside by the waterfall.

We're in the Firelight room. It's a little bit smaller and we're not having a huge wedding, and I LOVE the patio on that side. I'll be disappointed if the weather is crappy and we don't get to use it!

I attended one of my best friend's weddings there back in 2008 and the place is beautiful and run very well with good food. The only problem DH and I saw was the crowded joint cocktail area in the front before entering the reception room. If you have a big enough wedding to take up both sides this is no biggie, but if you only have one side there may be another cocktail hour going on right next to your guest's cocktail hour.

My cousin's daughter just got margaried there in March, I didn't go to the wedding but my father did and said it was very nice.  His only issue was the venetian hour the staff was giving out "to go" containers before everyone had a chance to get something

Ditto with the tight cocktail hour--unless you are using both sides it can be smaller.

Overall though, the service was good and the place is beautiful!

The patio is nice on the firelight side!!  As for the cocktail hour I am praying that we have at least 30 minutes to ourselves (they say they try to stager the beginning of each event and our start time is 6:30p).  I also hope people go outside, since it's the beginning of June hopefully it won't be too humid out or anything..overall I am excited!

When we met with them they told us the same thing.  They said they stagger it an hour so that when the firelight room cocktail hour is over ours would be starting.  However, our start time is 7pm.  I like the night wedding too so that it won't be too hot and that we could have day, sunset, and night pictures.  I do wish mine was a little earlier, but being that we have so many kids that aren't invited I want the parents to be able to spend most of the day with their kids before leaving them with the babysitter and coming to the wedding.

We had to do a somewhat later start because our church is located about 45 minutes north for the ceremony and I wanted to be able to actually attend my own cocktail hour (or at least half of it) so we are having the ceremony at 4:30p (catholic so it's an hour) no receiving line, and then just going...I like the idea of day, sunset, and night pictures as well :)
