I got married yesterday (6/9/12) and had the most amazing day I could have ever dreamed of. All of the vendors that we worked with were oustanding and the day was perfect.
Makeup: Danielle Santagata A+
Danielle did the makeup for myself, my mom, and my 3 bridesmaids. Each one of us loved our makeup. She is great at doing very subtle and natural looks that still make you look like you are "done up". None of us are huge daily makeup people so this was important for us. She traveled to us for a minimal charge and her prices were better than any other I had found. Our makeup looked perfect after having it on for over 12 hours and sweating on the dance floor!
Flowers: Flowers by Danielle A+
The flowers were more beautiful than I ever imagined and Danielle seemed to get my vision right from the beginning. I also found her prices better than any other place I looked for similar arrangements. She was great to work with throughout the process. The only small issue was that my grandmother changed her mind from a wrist coursage to a pin coursage at the last minute and I mentioned that to Danielle but it wasn't changed. Honestly, if that's the biggest issue on your entire wedding day, you're lucky!
DJ: Starry Nite Entertainment A+
Picking a DJ was the hardest part for us. There isn't a whole lot of work you can view and the music can make or break the event. I was a little nervous because we wanted a simple wedding (no introductions of bridal party, no group dances, etc) and that seemed atypical. However, Tom assured us he'd give us exactly what we wanted. The dance floor was packed all night and he didn't play any group dances until we went up and told him it was okay since we had so many friends requesting them and they ended up getting everyone dancing even more! He checked in with us a few times during the event to see how everything was going and gave us a CD with some of the wedding songs on them. We have heard from so many people that this was the first wedding they danced at. My legs are killing me from dancing non-stop!
Cake: Dale Lamberty A+
We know Dale personally and she has made serveral cakes for my family in the past. We went to her house to do a tasting and she had so many wonderful combinations. We ended up with 2 layers of chocolate cake and 2 layers of white cake. We had white icing with white swirls on it and flowers on top. The cake was stunning. One of the people at my venue came to find me to have me go look at it while I was waiting for the ceremony to start.
Photography: Melissa DeSchamp A+
Melissa is based near Boston but does travel. She was so wonderful to work with. My husband hates having pictures taken but she made him comfortable and we had amazing engagement photos with her. She was very communicative and organized throughout the process. She showed up early and took plenty of pictures but not too many that made it seem excessive. She took pictures of the dancing all night and of all the important moments. I can't wait to see the photos!
Venue: Great River Golf Club, Milford A+++++
I can't even rate this venue high enough to explain how wonderful they were. Throughout the entire planning process (almost 1 year) they were responsive and we felt like everything we asked for they were able to accommodate. I'm a very organized person and they even impressed me! They thought of literally everything. The food was delicious, the drinks were strong, and the service was outstanding. We had our ceremony here as well at their gazebo. In addition to Shannen (event coordinator) we also had Julianne (wedding concierge) available to us all night. They made sure we had food and drinks, Julianne made sure husband had his jacket for the cake cutting pictures, they drove us to do pictures on the golf course, and were always checking to see if we needed anything (but not in an annoying way). My mom said she felt like she could just be a guest instead of feeling like a host since everything was so well taken care of. I am so glad I picked this venue. We have had so many compliments on how beautiful everything was!
