Uplighting color

We got uplighting as part of our DJ package, and I am having the hardest time deciding on the color. My FI has no opinion (figures!), and we have to decide really soon as the wedding is in 10 days!

Our colors are purple and pink, so naturally this would be the best option to go with the color scheme.. But I'm worried about it looking too "tacky".
My DJ doesn't have a yellow (it looks more like orange), so my only neutral option is white:
My venue is at The Riverhouse, which is relatively neutral in general.  My DJ seemed hesitant to use white for the fear of "washing out" the room.

Any recommendations? TIA!

Re: Uplighting color

  • what about the orange? i was clicking through and that one looked the best to me. maybe it's the pics but the uplighting colors are intense. has your dj uplighted your venue before? can you talk to your venue and see if your dj has done uplighting there, what their opinions are of his work? uplighting isn't my jam but i'm really good w/ colors, and my choice would be the orange. it's more like romantic candlelight.

I'm a little concerned that the orange would clash with the pink/purple.  You don't think so? :-\

  • Go with the pink/purple def! We went with that & couldn't of been any happier (see siggy pic). I was nervous as well that it was going to be too much, but we got soooo many compliments & it was such an awesome backdrop for all our pics as well as went with out colors.

Here is one later on in the night!!!!

  • I initiallly wanted white but our uplighting pro said the same thing- he doesn't ever use white.  He suggested blue instead and it looked awesome (and still neutral like I wanted, especially since we were on the water).
  • kls thanks for the pics! I've decided to stick with the pink-purple lights. :) Thanks for the input everyone!

  • I would do white / neutral but why don't you talk to your photographer and ask him/her what colors would look better.
