honeymoon without passport on a budget

I just wanted to stop over here and see if any of you had a suggestion for a beach honeymoon that I wouldn't need a passport and would be budget priced.  I have looked into Puerto Rico and it seems to be the best so far...any other suggestions?

Re: honeymoon without passport on a budget

  • I love Puerto Rico. We went for a week last May and spent less than $2k on hotels, flights and a rental car. Try looking at CheapCaribbean.com, they have pretty good deals.
  • You can also try the US Virgin Islands. I don't believe that they have passport requirements either.

  • We were in the Caribbean last month and our two favorite spots were Puerto Rico and St. Thomas (USVI).  Neither require a passport.

  • OP and Cfas,

check out the biobay on Viesques, it was really cool. There's also this waterfall called Las Playas that is awesome. It's off the beaten path and you have to pay some old man 50 cents to walk through his backyard but it was so cool and something you won't find in a travel guide.
  • Yep a cruise..you just need ID and Birth Certificate

  • I went to Puerto Rico last year and had a blast...there's a lot to do there.  I'll second the bio bay rec.  We did the one in Fajardo, which you aren't allowed to swim in like the one on Vieques, but it's supposedly much brighter because of it.

  • Ditto PR....I'm a little biased cuz I'm from there, but I love it nonetheless and LOVE sharing it with people :-)
  • The Florida Keys could be budget friendly and you wouldn't need a passport.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • you dont bring your birth cert on a cruise.
OP you've got 4 months-plenty of time to get a passport. why limit yourself? they're pretty inexpensive and you get them for 10 years.

  • You do need a birth cert for a cruise ...

  • Yes, you do need a certified birth certificate if you are on a closed loop cruise.

  • I've heard really good things about the beaches in Destin, FL-- green water just like the Caribbean, powdery sand, and dolphins off the coast. My aunt was there not too long ago and loved it.
