Flower petals instead of centerpieces

What do you think about flower petals on the tables instead of centerpieces? Are petals cheaper that the centerpieces or more expensive because florists have to remove the petals?

Any ideas?
Or should I use silk petals -- do they look tacky?

Are your tables round or long?  I think that the petals would look alright on their own on long tables, but not so much on round tables.  What about adding some candles for the CPs?  You can find candles and candle holders at craft stores or Christmas Tree Shop for super cheap.

I am a fan of real flower petals.  I do think that fake petals are a bit tacky.

They would be much less expensive than full floral centerpieces. I think they would look nice, although I agree with PP- it would probably look best with the addition of candles something like this...

I would use real petals over silk.  See if you can do maybe a candle with some glass beads around it on a mirrored plate?

Do petals (real...fake are really tacky!) and candles in different glass vases/globes in a variety of heights; candles are very inexpensive.  Don't just do petals.
  • I would definitely recommend real petals and not fake petals. Rose, delphinium, and most real petals bruise even freeze dried ones. Most real petals bruise, fade or stain so you have to be careful in choosing the real petals. The next thing is the colour scheme. Depending on the colour of the tablecloth and your wedding colours you can decide which colour petals to use.

You could use mirrors and use petals of one colour or mixed colours. You can arrange them random scatter or even in a preferred pattern or design as your centerpieces.

I would recommend real bougainvillea petals since they look incredible and exotic. They also do not bruise, turn brown or stain. They also come in a wide range of colours as well. Just let me know and I'll let you know you can get some.
