Stupid Restaurant!!!

Ugh I am SO frustrated right now!

So I had rehearsal invites printed up and put the restaurant address on there I ASSumed we were going to be having the dinner at. I knew they had a separate little area groups can use because we did it for our class reunion once, no problem. Stupid me didn't call first to make a reservation...OF COURSE they don't take reservations on a "Friday or Saturday night". Turns out our class reunion was on the Wed before Thanksgiving, didn't even cross my mind.

So none of their three locations will take my reservation because they are "too busy" those nights. Mmmmk so when I walk in there with 27 people, you're going to have butt loads of fun trying to seat us all together. I am paying for all 27 people, you'd better bet I'd like to sit with them. This may classify me as a bridezilla, but I have gifts to give out and thank yous to announce. UUUUGH I have no idea what we are going to do. Invites are already sealed and stamped since, for once, I was trying to get ahead of the game.

My motto throughout this whole last year is "nothing can be simple" when it comes to this freaking wedding!!!

    Hahahaha this sounds so funny

    "Table for two?"

"Ah no, table for 27 please."

LOL. Hilarious yet annoying scenario, but it's not a bad idea. Maybe you can change the time to make it earlier (or later) when it's not so busy?

</div><div>Ok, this made me LOL...thanks for that :)</div><div>
</div><div>And it is a good idea. I have a couple of people that are invited (spouses) that aren't in the wedding, so they could totally leave the rehearsal early. Dinner will be around 7, so maybe most of the dinner rush will be over by then? I don't know, but it may be worth a shot! However, we will need a back up plan...</div>

  • that would be awesome if you sent a few of the spouses to ride together to the restaurant to have them get the tables ready =)  GREAT IDEA!

I hate when restuarants do that.  I usually say okay well I'll go to competitor's restaurant then.  I would try calling them back and explain the situation, if not ask how long of a wait it is for 27 usually on a Friday/Saturday so you can send some spouses over at an appropriate time.  Also with that a big of a crowd and a wedding RD they may make an exception try and speak to someone other than the hostess that picks up the phone.

  • Ithink you may be out of luck. 7:o'clock isthe height of the dinner hour on a Friday night. Realistically how long do you think it is going to take them to have tables for 27 free up? It is not just getting tables- it is getting tables together. We ran into the same problem. Our first choice restaurant ( where they knoww us well. And we do lots of business functions etc) told us that unless we wanted to take over the entire restaurant they wouldn't be able to accomodate our group of 30- at all. Basically by the time it cleared out enough to seat us all the kitchen would be ready to close. Besides, do you really want to spend 2-3 hurs hanging around waiting for tables? Although our original plan was to have a corner of the larger restaurant After we were rejected we started looking for alternatives and ultimately decided on a private room. We will be able to give our speeches etc withut interruption and reservations were not a problem.
  • Eek - sorry to hear about this! I have to agree with Marshallra, though. I think trying to send a few ppl to stake out a table for 27 guests could be a fool's errand, and if it were me, I would feel awkard having my guests do this.

I would try Michelle's suggestion of calling back and speaking to a manager (rather than a hostess) to explain the situation and see if you can work something out. If that doesn't work, even though it stinks right now, you will be less stressed the night before your wedding, if you just change the RD location to one that will take reservations. GL!

  • Owengirl, that sucks!  I see that you are in MA.  What area is the restaurant in?  Maybe we could help you find a back-up choice if they won't seat you?
