Seamstress Suggestions?

Hello Ladies
I bought my dress a couple weeks ago from David's Bridal
http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Tiered-Organza-A-Line-with-Beaded-Floral-Bodice-WG3196_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Trend-Skirt-Drama

I need to have a few alterations done...it might need to be shortened and taken in a small amount, but mostly I really want the back changed from a zipper to a corset.  The alterations department at Davids said they do that all the time and it is not a difficult thing, but I have heard horrible stories about their alterations department.  Does anyone have a good seamstress to recommend in the central CT area?

Re: Seamstress Suggestions?

  • I don't have any recommendations, but I bought the same dress!! Congrats. Let us know how the alterations turn out.
The people at David's Bridal told me that they could alter my dress for a very low cost, but I'm going to try to find someone close to me in SE CT.
  • Ladies....Im in the same boat!! I have my dress, but need altherations.

If you guys find a place...please pass it along!!
  • I've heard good things about Eva at Classic Bride by Eva.  I haven't used her and she's located in Stratford (not sure if that's too far).

    Here's her information:
Address: 88 Ryders Lane, Stratford, CT 06614
    Phone: 203-378-9074
    Website: http://www.classicbridesbyeva.com/
  • I don't know her name, but she works with Dynamite Design in Wallingford. (They don't do alterations at the store, but reccommend her to all brides/bridesmaids that buy from them-- she has a private business) She altered my sister-in-law's wedding dress and my BM dress. Did a FABULOUS job and was super reasonable. I'm sure if you contact Dynamite Design in Wallingford they could give you her info.

  • Carrie recommended Leila at A Fitting Solution in NEw Milford.

I spoke with her and she sounds really sweet.  I'm actually bringing my dress in tomorrow to get an idea of what the prices are and what needs to be done so I can report back then if you're interested.

  • I'm not sure where you ladies are located, but I have a seamstress that I've been going for for years that is based on the West Haven/Orange line. She works out of her home, but she does amazing work. I started going to her in high school when I had my prom dresses altered, and I've had her do many brides maids dress alterations for me. I actually plan on using her to make my wedding gown.

Her business is Midnight to Six Designs.
Her name is Ann Moore and you can contact her at 203-931-0931.
