Niantic Area Brides

We are having our wedding at a church in Niantic and reception at Rocky Neck State Park, almost 2 hours from our house. So, I was thinking about finding a nice place for my bridesmaid and myself to stay closer to the area. Does anyone know of a nice hotel or bed and breakfast that could accomodate myself and 5 bridesmaids? It would be nice if it had a spa in or near by it so we could get mani pedis or massages or something. Thanks.

Re: Niantic Area Brides

  • So I grew up in Old Lyme if you want more of B&B type of thing the Old Lyme Inn (it is reopening shortly under new management and extensive reconstruction) or the Bee & Thistle Inn are good choices.

If you want more of a hotel/spa I would recommend Waters Edge or Saybrook Point Inn. There is a beautiful area over looking the water for drinks/dinner.

  • I agree with PP.  I don't know much about the little Inn's in Old Lyme but Water's Edge is about 15-20 minutes from Rocky Neck.  Saybrook Point Inn is about 10-15 minutes.  If you go in the other direction there is also Norwich Inn and Spa which is about 15-20 minutes and Mohegan Sun is about 15-20 minutes.

As for where to get manis and pedis, I have a great place!  I started going to Pretty Nails and Spa in Niantic (on Pennsylvania Ave near DQ) because we have a beach house in the private beach association right next to Rocky Neck so we are down there all the time in the summer.  I got my mom, 2 aunts, and 3 cousins hooked on this place.  Mine and FI's house is about 45 minutes from there but I will drive that far because they are so great.  They do the hot stones for pedis and they are only $32 and last an hour.  They also used to do a mani/pedi special Mon-Thursday for $35.  I'm not sure if they are still doing that since I haven't gone in a long time. I highly recommend them.

Also, if you need anything else let me know.  I don't know if we've PM'd before but as I said I spend my summers down there a lot and my cousin got married at Rocky Neck in 2008.
  • I second Pretty Nails! Used to go there all the time when I lived down there!

Awesome!!  It's so beautiful.  We were assigned Kerry Edwards as our ceremony coordinator and she was great!!!  Not sure if they've divided up the weddings yet but I loved working with Kerry.

  • I am from East Lyme, I live about 1 mile from Rocky Neck :) I would recommend staying in Old Lyme so you are close. Staying at Waters Edge or Saybrook Point in can get pretty pricey. My best friend is a receptionist at Water's Edge and its always booked up and always has venues going on which wont be relaxing for you! I used to work at a store in Old Lyme and the owner just bought the Old Lyme Inn and she is redoing and revamping the whole place! You wont even need to get on the highway to get to rocky neck, its only one back road away. It will be a nice quiet stay with your girlfriends around a nice area where there are great places to eat/drink and beaches! Niantic has a nice bar scene too so your only minutes from that! There are two nail salons in niantic, both are great and inexpensive. One is across from DQ and next to a gym and the other is across from Bank of America in the plaza where the grocery store used to be (my best friend used that place for her wedding mani/pedi with us and family) and they reserved the whole morning for just us! I like that place better than the other, but both are good.

I was starting to lean towards Waters Edge because I couldn't find anything on Old Lyme Inn and the Bee & Thistle looked to small. Do you have any information on the Old Lyme Inn (prices/size of rooms etc..) I'm going to have about 5 girls with me, will it be comfortable for all of us? PM me if you have any more info.
    Thanks
