Hi everyone!
FI and I are in the process of researching photographers and wanted to hear some reivews from you all! We were trying to find "budget friendly" photographers, but of course all the ones we like have packages above $3,000. We like the non-traditional photos, more candid, not so "posey" formals. So far I have inquired information from some of the preferred photographers including Airen Miller and a couple others that I haven't heard from yet, but have also ventured off the list and have looked into By The Light, Raw Photo Design, and Brooke Allison Photography.

We are going with HK Photography. Our package is just at $3000 and there is one below that. I'm sure they can work with you. They are an excellent team and we can't wait to work with them more!

You should check out Hawk Photography! We are using Daryl and he has a very natural feel to his photojournalistic style! He has the traditional packages but will also customize and we ended getting everything we want, including an album and e-session, for under $2,000!

Definitely look into Sassy Mouth Photo in Meriden. Marisa takes beautiful pictures and specializes in the more candid, less posey shots. She's also super sweet and fun, and REALLY affordable. Her pictures look like $3000 quality, but are half the cost!

You definitely need to contact Eric Brushett. He has packages starting under $2,000 but will also work with you on an a la cart basis. Tell him what you want and he will create it. He also has an awesome photojournalistic style that you are looking for.

I love Raw Photo as well, but I know they are probably more expensive then what you are looking for (but I could be wrong because I haven't worked with them in a while).

I love Raw, but they're definitely more expensive than you're looking to pay.

I was looking for similar things, and ended up with Alexis Stein Photography.  We're really, really happy with them, and we're paying less than $3000 for 8 hours, two photographers (the two owners, not just a pro and an 'assistant'), an engagement session, and a CD and full printing rights for all our pictures.

Highly recommend http://photologystudios.com/. We did our Trash the Dress with them. Not sure what their current pricing is but I know their 2010-2011 pricing started at $2000 including engagement session and 2 photogs.

We used Catherine Fiehn in Milford and she was worth every penny. I know she starts at $2799 now as one of my friend just booked her. Everything was as good or better then the $5000+ photographers and we got our disks right after we got back from our honeymoon. One thing I loved was her second photographer had a style very different from hers lots of details and candid moments I didn't even know happened.

Love him! His style and his price are amazing, and we felt great doing our e-pics with him and his wife. Can't wait for the wedding and to see his photos. Every time he posts new weddings, they always make me smile, he captures so much joy and excitement.

Hey we went with Tim from Tabphotographic.com... he worked with our budget completely because we also wanted to be under $3000. He was able to get us all that we wanted for $2700 because he deosnt do pre set packages, he lets you pick what youd like and gets a price from there. Lots of personality and his pictures look amazing!

Check out Roger's Photography! Ed and Lori are a husband wife team and do an amazing job! We actually just got our photos back the other day and they are absolutely GORGEOUS!!! The are so great to work with and very laid back kind of feel.  We were a little bit on the higher side with them as we did a photobooth with them and a few add ons but they are definitly willing to work with any budget One thing to point out though, I know someone else above talked about Hawk Photography, but personally, I would stay away.  If you love him then I say go for it, but we along with everyone else I've talked to about him have only have negative things to say.  There was a thread a little while back I think called Hawk Photography.  You should check out the reviews.  Hope that helps!!

We are using Raw and they are fabulous- our engagement pics just came back really beautiful and not posey at all.  Eric is beyond awesome and very comfortable to work with.  They are more pricey and I think their lowest package for unlimited hours day of shots with 2 photogs is like 3500ish...  If you dnn't find one that you like for less consider this... your pics/video are the things that are going to last more than that one day.  At least that was our motto when we decided to splurge a bit Hope that helped.

We are using No Eye Has Seen Photography out of Hartford. Friends of ours used them and we TOTALLY love their images!!! And our friends told us that throughout their engagement they sent them some "secret surprises"...cookies, and other fun stuff. I thought that was special and fun!
