Sun Palace?

DH and I are planning a trip to Mexico in February and trying to decide between (1) going back to ERC - we were there in July and loved it; (2) going to EPM because it would be different than ERC but we know we would love it because it is an Excellence resort; and (3) trying out Sun Palace.  The advantages of Sun Palace being that it is less expensive than EPM and has a really good deal going right now with resort credit.  It would end up being about $700 less than EPM even before the resort credit.

Hoping somebody out there has been to SP before and can offer an opinion!  The cost difference seems too good to pass up but I don't want to be disappointed after ERC.

TIA!

Re: Sun Palace?

  • We are planning on going to moon palace in Oct. 2011.
If you are staying 6+ nights you get a $1,500 resort credit..

I've never been so I'm not sure, but most of the reviews are good.

  • I've been to both..moon palace is very nice, it's a big resort with large great pools.  There is one really nice restaurant the rest are okay in my opinion.  The spa is nice esp if you get the credit.  The beach however is okay, the water has alot of seaweed washed up on the beaches with no waves and it isn't that blue turquoise color.  We went to Sun Palace for the day one day b/c they have free bus transfers since they are sister hotels.  It's on the main strip with a small pool but the water has waves and is that great turquoise color!  SO it really depends what you're into!!
  • Both Sun Palace and EPM are fantastic resorts, but different.  I went to Sun Palace for a 4 day trip with my now husband.  The food, service everything was fantastic, but it is a small resort, especially when compared to EPM.  I went to EPM on my honeymoon a month ago, it is a huge resort, more comparable to Moon Palace, but minus the kids.  Personally I liked EPM better, I felt the food was a little better, there were more options for restaurants and more activities going on during the day.  I also liked how it was away from the hustle and bustle of Cancun, it feels like your in your own paradise.

No matter what you choose though, their service is the best I've ever seen.  Both are very relaxing, especially since they are both adults only.   Good luck in your decision!
