For those of you who are doing father/daughter dances - what song are you using?
And my second question - how closely do you think people listen to the lyrics? I mean, some of the father/daughter songs that I've chosen have "unconventional" lyrics that some people might consider odd for a wedding. Do you think I should be concerned about the lyrics or just concentrate on the overall "feeling" of the song?
I have to say, I don't remember many lyrics from the father/daughter dances at weddings I've been to! I'm just afraid people will hear some of the oddball lyrics and think "why in the world did she pick THIS song?!"
Re: Father/Daughter Dance songs
I was a huge into the lyrics, though- whereas my dad just gave me suggestions of songs he liked....
I am doing 'I Loved Her First' by Heartland. I think it is 50/50 for people who will listen to the lyrics versus those who won't. The other thing to consider if it is a song your guests will recognize. If it is, they are more likely to listen to the lyrics I think.

I used this song :)
Walk with you by Edwin McCain, I loved her FIrst by Heartland, My LIttle Girl by Tim McGraw and My Wish by Rascall Flatts.... I think you should do what is perfect for you and your dad.. I know if I was at a wedding and I listened to the lyrics, and they were weird, I'd assume that the song had special meaning and not think twice

We haven't 100% decided, but currently topping our list is "Tupelo Honey" by Van Morrison. It's a great song

LOVE this song! DH and I used Van Morrison's Crazy Love for our first dance and then Into the Mystic for the anniversary dance

We used an instumental version of "God Only Knows" as the precessional song!!
Also we were told that our first dance song was a break up song (The Beatles "In My Life") but we loved the lyrics and thought they could apply in either situation so we used it anyway!
